How much from stock to single?

If I dont sell my car and I fit a single instead how much would I be looking at going from stock set up to single? with all electronic gizmo'sd etc?

on the basis of a BL T61 budget kit

It would cost 6k easy. Probably more if you want everything to cope....

Yeah there's fitting a single and then there's fitting a single...

yep i would need everything to support too, including the brakes!

Mate it could cost anything from £6k to £20k. Depends on how far you want to go.

depends greatly on what you want from the single. If you are happy with performance equal to a well setup set of sequentials then you can keep the price down but you have to keep the boost down. If you want to really make the most of the single you will need uprated injectors, uprated fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, boost controller, FMIC and simple ECU upgrade.

I did mine on a budget so didnt uprate the injectors (Im UK spec so 550cc anyway) or the intercooler but they are all things I will be doing at some point in the future if I want to run 1.4bar or above.

As has been said it depends on what you want. Taking labour out of the equation you could do it for £3k, thats just the turbo kit and e-manage and sundrys, it wont make much more power than stock but it will make a great base to build on when funds allow.

I dont know where all these scary figures come from, it depends on what you want to achieve and the time scale you want to do it over. Going single CAN be done for a small outlay.

I'm budgeting for £12k - turbo and fuel kits, Thor fitting and supply of AEM and set up, gauges and other things like CDIs etc, carbon clutch, labour! That's not including Teins etc and wider wheels which i'm gonna get too.

hi mate i am in the process do a stock (well almost) to t-61. mine so far is about 6k but i have done abit of polishing and i already had fmic, de limited and a couple of other elec mods that matt at sextons said i should have.

ok thanks for most of the reply's so far, not sure what's with all the popcorn eating!, okay then so for a good set-up(which is what I'd be wanting) is gonna cost more than what I probably paid for the car, doesn't really seem worth it! unless your going for huge power which i'm not, guess that's the thread done already!

To get "all the right bits" is expensive. But if you are planning to keep the car for a while and do the mods over time it isnt so bad, as you can pick up bits second hand as and when they come up for sale.

It all comes down to weather you want all the power straight away or in stages.
