The amount or work in cutting out that section, welding new bit in, stripping all chrome and then re-chroming would cost far more than just replacing (and it might turn out crap)

You're right on m8,but it's a merc so be ready to turn your pocket inside out.If it was my car then i would have bought some s/s pipe and welded in a new section.Mind you i have all the tools to DIY it.

Must look after the penny's these days.

Well, if it was mine I'd get stainless tube bent at work and welded for nowt but it ain't mine and I don't know the person :nyah:

Most people don't have access to the equipment or matl. so they would pay through the arse more for it to be fabricated as a one off than to buy a new one, even at Merc prices.
