just seemed to come on after redline?

and didnt go off.

General warning light, check for error codes. What happened exactly?

It doesn't indicate any particular fault but can also come on with another light.

Seatbelt not on and other things.

But if you've taken it past the red line it's probably more serious.

dunno, must have gone over the 7k redline, thats when it came up, and didnt go off!

Check for error codes on the ECU.

Like tbourner says you'll have to see if there's any fault codes, I wouldn't drive it until you get it sorted.

could be active soiler many imports i import come with this fault very easy to fix

i do have the active spoiler button pushed in i think?

what would the active spoiler fault be, and why would this happen if thats the case

From what you described, sounds like it could be the speed converter that's at fault. Usually a ropey box to convert kph to mph on your speedo. It's a common problem.

Can't exactly remember the conditions under which it does a check, but it's something like water temperature over a certain amount AND rpm over 3000 for a few seconds, then if the speed signal is not as expected it will light the warning lamp.

It's code 42 when you do the ECU diagnostics check.

When you switch on your ignition before you start the car do all your warning lights on the top right hand side light up? If not there could be an engine management light on (its a common fault for dry joints on the box to allow the engine management light to not light up) Is it an auto or manual. If its an auto and you have speed limiter faults they also show with an O/D off flashing light (and correct me if I'm wrong a flashing trac control light?) Also I think if its the lip spoiler causing the fault does not that light in the switch flash as well? Mine has an FMIC and that kept my warning triangle on.

checked it this morning, nothing came up on the diagnostic test,

so i started it up, and removed the handbrake, and the warning light goes off as usual.

could be something to do with the speedo

I know what it could be

Faulty speed sensor. (maybe on the gear box)

I had them same.

The light only comes on when you hit the delimiter.

Thor sorted mine with a new SLD £50 ish

Did you go through this little lot?

my moneys still on the brake fluid.

The reservoir may look full but try putting some more in and see if it takes it.

I see some gaps in the lighting dials, anything else that should light up?

anyway, went for another spin yesterday, didnt go anywhere near redline, just over 70 leptons and light on again?

sorry, no idea what that could be but it looks like all the lights are up.

If in doubt, shine a torch into the dials and you'll see any remaing icon silhouettes

That should light up on the right side of the cluster between the engine light and the oil

just checked again, abs light does come on, just goes off after around 3 seconds

You sure no other lights came on, like the handbrake light? Faulty handbrake sensor?

Try pulling the handbrake on slightly and then putting it back down when the light comes on again.
