8.5J with track spacers???

just a word of caution.

i bought some wide spacers for my car. but noticed that the fitment was not quite right as when the spacers were bolted on to the hub there was a gap between the hub and spacer, which is only noticable when checking using a feeler gauge. so had the centre bore re-machined on all 4 spacers.

also the nyloc nuts supplied with the spacers did't seem like good quality.

Would 8.5J with track spacers;

give the car the same handling set up as with 9.5J or just the appearance of a wider rear but without the handling?

DO NOT use spacers, tjhey are a total cock up, buy wheels that fit, in every respect. Of (say) 10 MKIV's i see with aftermarket wheels you can bet only one will have ones that actually fit correctly. maybe even a lower percentage than that. And no, 8.5 rims with spacers are totally different to 9.5 inch rims in every respect.
