View Full Version : Greddy profec e-01 boost controller
Anyone got any pics on how to install the solenoid in the engine bay to control the boost.
Think mine is plumbed in wrong.
Also on the solenoid does it go on n/c or n/o
Thanks
Do these instructions for the blitz one seem the same?
http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/blitz_dsbc/index.html
I've got an e-01. Great bit of kit!
Anyway,
COM goes to the actuator
NO goes to the turbo
Haven't you got a manual with it?
Misplaced mate.
Is that it??
Just seems the blitz one is a little more complicated on those mkiv.com pictures.
Do you have to block off the front VSV and various other bits?
Hang on mate, I'll find you the manual....
BRB....
Here you go bud

Mine has the pipe from COM to the turbo and the NO going to the top of the actuator. Should it go to the top or bottom of the actuator?
Should it go to the top or bottom of the actuator? The top. You need to cap off the bottom pipe, iirc
So if i cap off the bottom part of the acuator where does the pipe go that was there?
Having a blonde moment here.!!
Easiest way, put one end of a rubber pipe on the actuator inlet (the bottom one) and cap the other end of the pipe with a bolt or somesuch. The other hose, the one that used go to the actuator, blank that off in the same way. Connect the two hoses from the GReddy solenoid to the other side of the actuator and the turbo.
Sorted.
So basically the actuator is bypassed and the solenoid is doing the actuators job.
Correct?
I guess so. I must admit that I don't really understand how it works. It does though.
Your a star Jake. thanks for explaining that.
What do you set your profec to to get 1.2bar
My settings are
Set 55
Gain 10
StartTo 50
1.20 bar max
Works great for me. YMMV depending on how restrictive your exhaust is, restrictor ring apeture, etc.
Mine sometimes peaks to 1.22 bar but I can live with that. I could probably play about with the settings and perfect it but I'm more than happy with it as it is.
One more.
If the solenoid was connected like you say and the actutor pipes were still connected (not blocked off).
What would this do?
Occasional hike in boost?
Please say yes.
I don't know. Why do you ask?
Because the boost pressure on mine kept creeping up.
On a couple of occasions it was hitting 1.7bar!
But most of the time it was at 1.3bar with the boost controller set to off.
Just been out for a spin with the actuator pipe (bottom pipe) blocked off and it seems to be ok so far. Didnt go over 1.1 bar.
Will test it tomorrow on the way to Chris Wilson's place. Nice motorway driving at 6.30 in the morning.
If it was unblocked, wouldn't that be the same as having a wide open manual boost controller, i.e. the wastegate not opening because all the pressure is leaking away, leading to no actuator operation? Think thats likely to lead to damage! I could be wrong though, anyone tell me if I'm talking bollox? I really must understand this better some day.
I really dont know mate:shrug:
