ok, this is aimed at some of the expert type folk on here

why are the front calipers on the supra at the rear section of the disc? why not put them at the front area, like so many other braking systems do...was it a cost issue, or is there an advantage?

if you buy AP or other proprietry brake systems that are acknowledged as being 'better' than stock (mainly due to increased disc size), they are to the front, so why not stock?

flame suit deployed just in case this is a foolhardy question!!

Simple, the steering arm has to be in the front or the rear of the hub, so the caliper goes the opposite side, usually. There are exceptions like Rolls Royce Silver Shadows with 2 calipers per side to slot in the spaces, but you get the idea.

ah, so it was purely the steering rack being too far forward, therefore the track rods and steering arms had to be in front, placing the caliper at the rear

interesting stuff. i assume it is because of the straight 6 layout, and the inherant large sump

Is this the N/A de cat pipes and TT rear system? If so yes, but you will have to ring me to arrange a time. 07971-952084 Thanks

Ideally they would be underneath, to keep the weight low. But then there's the bottom ball joint to work around.
