I have this also, done it ever since I bought the car 3 yrs ago. (slight tappet sound on idle). Having heard a few more sup`s since I think they all do it to some degree.

Some of the tech guys should be able to add more information on this, I may be wrong but I am led to believe the tappets are self adjusting so theres not a great deal that can be done regarding the sound?

Anyone?

The tappets on a supra are not Hydraulic lifter type ..they are bucket and shim type and require manual setting. I would check your oil first and see if the noise quietens down ..if it perists or gets worse then lift the cam covers off and check the valve clearances are within spec . Some make a very very slight noise on older high miler cars but in general they should be pretty silent.
