Come one come all. Hopefully we can time this so that when we venture through the West End we will be flooded by the Christmas lights
So how do people feel about Thursday November 17th at Cafe Rouge, Chiswick for Coffee and Hot Chocolatte around 19:30. Then a little trip through town before stopping off at the Sports Bar in Haymarket.
I'm up for that.........:D
If no one else comes you can just take me for diner stead. :D :D
Working nights that week then off to New York the next day, otherwise I'd love to hook up with you guys.
sounds like fun!
aghjae how long have you had your car? I ask as my brother used to live in greenhithe and I don't remember ever seeing one about?
I've had my car since March but I spend teo thirds of my time living in London. I've seen a supra around the corner in Knockhall Road, you might not see mine as it's parked in a car park under the building.

Arghjae - do you see i keep putting spotted threads up about you :D Take a sickee, you know you want to.
Qaisar, maybe SupRo will come down too as he did last time so you two can have a mini convoy from Luton.
hmmm i might be up for this if my car is ready :)
if free, i'll be there ;)
I'll be there...promise.. :)

Yup, I'm up for it. Qaisar has moved out of Luton but if anyone fancies a convoy, I'm sure we can come up with something
hopefully I'll actually have my car by then.
If so, I'll be there.

Yep im in London now but, occassionaly head up to Luton, so if im there that day i'll hook up with you mate, il pm you nearer the time
Just hoping my car will be ready before then, its at Phoenix at the moment having a few bits done
Damn, working nights that night otherwise I'd be well up for that.
Having said that, I haven't actually found a suitable supra yet, so I would have had to follow you a few cars back in my RS!
Are you gonna go down the A4 from chiswick? fancy taking a slight detour up shepherds bush road so i can watch and pretend to be involved?
I would take a sickie but since I'm going for promotion I better keep my record clean. I will make it to a cruise before the year is up if another one gets organised.
Ill be back by then so will see you all there..
So long as my baby's working, I'll be there (clutch and flywheel on order, old one rusting on my balcony...), sunds like a giggle.

Doh! i missed your car, I dropped my car off at Phoenix today! Had to rush off to get the train.
Only say Taz/whitelightning's(??) car.
Cool Qaisar :)
Unless yours was on the ramp!!! There was a supra on the ramp, no exhaust on it.

The more the merrier.
What we'll do is have a coffee and a chat then head off through the West End then park up hopefully outside the sports cafe in Haymarket. Should be nice.
Hi James....not been out in the supe much..loads of work/travel on ATM....should be back for this one though
can I come there too on my supercharged roller blades with Brembo brakes?
Tell you what, I'll run a water skiing rope off of my rear wing, and I'll tow you there...

Well thank you my dear, very kind; I like her, but it seems like nothing's finished (bodywork, system, engine, suspension......)! Assuming she's working for the 17th (I need to find the cause of a rather worrying knocking noise), then you can see her in the flesh, so to speak; that is of course if your skates make it that far... :p
Are you aware that the link on your signature is broken? Is this out of respect for your poorly ride?

I would love to, but I work at the fire station, and unfortunately they don't take to kindly to me just "popping out" :badidea:

Actually i may bring a few sets i have lying around :D good thinking.
Nick bring the fire truck along .
If only I was in charge of one of the trucks on the 17th! I don't think that's very likely though unfortunately......probably a good thing though really - I'm sure peole have been charged for less than escorting a few supras round London!
Gotta say though that a few supras in a fire station yard would make a cool picture.
See, I told you a detour up Shepherds Bush road would be a good idea! That might actually possible if you really wanted to do it - I'd have to ask the guvnor, and it could only be a few, not too many but.......;)
At the very least I could open the doors and you could get a few quick pics out the front of the station with the trucks visable. Ok, not great, but might be worth the small detour!
Aww... fellow London Supra Squaddies... I wish I could make this. The Supe's poorly and probably won't be looked at till the end of this week. Gonna have to miss out on this one.
Can't be cramping anyone's style with my squeak-squawking. So in true club spirit I'll stay home on the 17th. lol
Have a great time people.

no rollercoasting on my rope then..
I've managed to track down and fix the noise/knocking, but when I came back from a test run, there was a trail of oil coming from the front of the engine somewhere... :unfair:
When it's not one thing, it's another...
I'm fed up with her today, so I'm feeling sorry for myself and having a Star Wars fest, but I'll have another look tomorrow and see if it's something I can fix; but even if it is, I still need to get her MOT'd and Taxed...
I'm still getting a lot of noise from the gearbox, but I've been told that it's normal when running a solid state flywheel; although I'd prefer someone who knows to confirm.
no rollercoasting on my rope then

I wish only on sunny days. I rode every day, managed to put almost 1500miles in 9 weeks, adn that was my 1st EVER bike. Had an accident when I got caugt in a heavy rain.
and what chicken strip r u on about??
P.S. I didnt really needed those sliders as a newbie, ok????
2 Posts, hmnmm, yeah, er, sorry about that, these window things are damn confusing. I opened up the Who's Who page to see your picture, but then replied to this post, in that thread! User error....
Perhaps I should have said that by posting twice, I get to receive two replies from you...
The 'Sunny' comment was aimed at the bike not you, riding a Duke I'm impressed you managed to get it to start ever day! 1500 Miles in 9 weeks is going a fair bit though.
I must offer my sincerest apology if I offended you in any way with my harsh and callous comments on your riding ability; the use of a Duke as a first bike is uncommon to say the least; I have to admit that I assumed you were seasoned, and therefore questioned your lack of sliders etc.
My 'Chicken Strip' comment was in the same vein; this refers to the amount of unused tyre on each side, the more unused, the less you lean and thus the less you push it. Again, this was a little unfair as it was your first bike, and I offer myself up for public flogging as well as whatever punishment you deem fit for such a terrible crime..
Had an accident when I got caugt in a heavy rain.
How is your bike, did she survive?
Sounds good, on night shift near Heathrow so will try and sneak off for a few hours.
I can confirm that I will be attending :eyebrows:
Dispite many hours in a cold garage, swearing and getting generally stressed, my wee beastie remains sick.
I have given up.
A call was made to Phoenix a few minutes ago, and they are going to pick her up and take her away to make her better....
However, this means that I wont be able make Thursday, sorry guys :thumbdown
Third Thursday in November... a choice...

sorry Guys, really wanted to come to this one but BT decided in their wisdom to tamper with the telephone lines outside our unit and cut main main three incoming lines, therfore put me behind all afternoon. I shall be keeping my eyes open for the next one
I suspect they are prowling the streets of the west end as we speak...
Great turn out. I think there were about ten cars?
Nice convoy on the A4, much to the annoyance for an Aston Martin (DB9?) Driver! He was hounded by quite a few supras as some of us fell behind and had to catch up, he probably got a little scared!:innocent:
China and I got stuck behind a few sets of traffic lights so we took a detour and met up with everyone in Picadilly circus. We were all stuck in a bit of traffic so we all decided to let our engines roar a bit. I think the Eros statue almost fell over!:read:
We had a nice line up outside the Sports bar. Unfortunately a Parking attendant managed to book me and everyone behind me...about 4/5 supras I think. James and the others who were in front of me just manage to escape
Apart from £50 down, It was a cracking evening.
James will be posting pics up soon.
Ro
sounds rather fun, shame i didnt go. show us the pics then, see what i missed out on.
so who were the unlucky ones to get booked lol
I was the last one outside Harrods and the Aston Martin was behind me. I stopped in the middle of the road to let the supra in the front to come out and he decided to overtake me with the right hand lane.....
I didn't let him and step on the gas, we were side by side and he have to do an emergency stop as his lane become a right turn only and he nearly hit the traffic island :)
not a happy bunny he was.

Still can't belive the amount of traffic wardens. They must have all decided to work overtime tonight. Well next time i say we head off to the O2 center in Swiss Cottage where we can park safely and have a proper natter.
Russell, Simon. Nice to meet you and hopefully next time we can have a proper chat.
Only took a couple but pictures can be found here (http://www.terribleturner.co.uk/galleries/westenderz171105), and i'll look at the video tomorrow.

James if you want me to photoshop any of those images to bump them up a bit PM me, can also help out with the video if needed (although probably not needed based on your previous vids)
Thanks again to James for organising. (good run on the way home too! )
Hope you guys had fun - really wanted to make this one!
Just got in to work after spending the rest of the night in the sports bar.
Decided to make the most of my rather expensive permit to park.
Sorry I couldn't come on from there, but I had arranged to meet my girlfriend in there and I couldn't get hold of her to tell her we'd be moving on.
The run on the way over from chiswick was good though, got to get me a walkie talkie. That Aston Martin didn't know what was going on as 4 supras flew past him on the flyover :scare:. But then I doubt he was intimidated, I reckon you have to have a pretty big p*nis to own one of those (or just loads of money)
And coming up to picadilly was crazy, I reckon people must have thought it was an invasion.:rlol:
I will have to come over for the next one (a bit earlier this time maybe ) and we can have more of a chat.
Good to put *some* names to faces, and hopefully I can meet the rest of you next time.
Good one though, nice one James for organizing it and looking forward to the next one. :)

I am going to make sure I get RLTC fitted so that I can race you properly Turner
Not good spinning the wheels in every gear
I agree... I was behind you on the way home and was interesting watching you fish tail when going in a straight line. Saying that traction was a bit of problem last night, was very cold, and even I had problems getting traction in a straight line, TC kept on kicking in, even at 50, which was a first for me since I've had the supe, at least in the dry anyways! So can only imagine the traction problems you had.
Was a good run back though, that woman in the AMG had balls and just before you turned off for Hammersmith an S4 joined in the fun too!
Glad to see you folks had a "blast" Shame I missed it but believe me I had a good time where I was too, ha ha :eyebrows:
Great to see your pics so soon, James, but sorry I couldn't get any of my evening - tried but was advised that it wouldn't be in my best interest.
See you soon I hope, folks

Yea she was fun.. She gave me a big smile at the lights and I knew what was up.. It was a Carlson Mercedes not an AMG
You should see me on the motorway.. At the moment thats about the only place I can get traction after 100.. I still step out occasionally which is always interesting when your doing a a ton..
You should see the other drivers around me on the motorway........ :scare:
Bloody traffic wardens! What was he doing out anyway it was dam cold last night.

Final meet in a Supra as car is being picked up by the new owner on Saturday afternoon.
Was great fun driving in along the A4, stopping groups on the pavement as they watched us pass:). Then through the hyde park underpass. Windows down and all you could hear was exhaust and dump valves going off.

Got a wicked idea for a meet James..just found a really good pub (The Green Dragon) where they do food, run by two Slovakian brothers just off the A1..Two huge car parks, they have TVR meets there, Alvis, Corvette meets etc..the guys Love cars, the food there is good (excellent wine list too-for those not driving obviously he he), the decor is very European and not the usual roadside pub infested with oldie worldie Knick knacks.
Its less then a 1/4 of a mile from the South Mims A1/M25 interchange...and about 3 miles (of straight A1)from the Hatfield Tunnel.
Just an idea:yu:

Well, I managed to swing by briefly at 7.30, but there were only a few cars there at that time. Said hello to Simon and Ro (there were a couple of other peeps but I can't remember names. sorry!), and to be honest the RS wasn't looking great compared to the supes.
Had to leave pretty fast cos I was supposed to be at work, so I'm afraid I couldn't meet any more of you. I did see (and hear!) you though as you went the other way past me near the green James!
I thought I was buying my first supe in the next couple of days, but that seems to have fallen through unfortunately, so it might still be a while before I can join the club properly :thumbdown

Cheers fella, appreciate that - might have to take you up on the offer. I'm after a N/A, so a spin in a TT might not be the best idea though - may tempt me to spend more than I can afford!
Umm, don't suppose you're a technical dude are you? If so, if you wanted to take a spin to Hemel there's a car I'm interested in, but I'm not quite sure if it's a good'un or not..........

Thanks guys, bloody nice blokes on this board! :respekt: I'll get the drinks in if we actually do it :friday:
Gotta go back to work in London till sunday soon, so maybe sometime early next week?
Can't really afford to spend more than about £5000 James, and unfortunately I think Rush will want more than that! Isn't it a TT anyway?
I don't think there's too much wrong with it mechanically (but then again, I know fairly little about car mechanics, so there could be ), there's just a couple of things I'm not sure about: it's got pro drive wheels, and from what I've read on the net they're only sold for fitment to imprezzas, so I don't want it to be eating tyres all the time; and the top of the O/S headlight is raised a couple of mill above the bonnet. The garage reckon it's cos it has an aftermarket front bumper and whoever fitted it may have had to adjust the headlight a bit to get it to fit properly. Just doesn't sound quite right to me.
I suppose I just really need an opinion from someone who knows something about supras on whether they think it's a decent car or not! Didn't really like the attitude of the guy there when I went to have a look at it a few weeks ago, so maybe we can intimidate him into giving me a good deal if we go there with a few quality supes :D
Paul, the car I'm thinking of is here (http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/cars_search.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=TOYOTA&model=SUPRA&variant=&keywords=&min_pr=75&max_pr=&mileage=&agerange=&postcode=HP1+3LD&miles=1&max_records=50&source=0&photo=1&sort=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH)
It's the silver one for £5495 (not planning on paying that much though!) Do you know anything about D McMinn? By the way, I realise that front end is horrid - I'd change it for a standard one if I got it.
terribleturner
21-11-05, 21:45
My car came from D McMinn, and Sabrina (How_Supra) nearly bought a FTO from there. I would have bought an R33 GTS-T if the insurance hadn't been so bad.
Bumpers interesting. But why not get the silver £4K one and use the money you save on a new/2nd hand bumper that you want.
Rush's [gunmetal]Silver is an NA and its a 1998 model - may be worth pm'ing him to see what he wants and if he is still thinking of selling her. [the car]
Otherwise I'd go with James' suggestion above :D
Didn't really look at that other one really TBH - apart from the front bumper the one I'm on about has everything I want - nice 18's and OEM skirts and spats. It's also got a nice momo steering wheel and a vacuum guage - not 100% on why that's necessary or how it works (I think it tells you how hard the engine is working and therefore gives an indication of fuel economy. anyone?) but I think it's cool anyway!
Yes, I know I could get the other one and do all that stuff myself, but I'm a very lazy man
They actually said they'd put the standard bumper from that car on the one I want if I wanted it, but I'm not really sure if I trust them to do it properly.
The fact yours came from there gives me some peace of mind though - I take it you've had no problems?
I just don't have a very good feeling about the place though. It's a fresh import, and when I asked him what auction grade it was, he said "probably 3.7 to 4" :conf: WTF? When I went to look at it, it hadn't been converted to UK standards (eg fog light, radio, speedo etc) so it can't have been SVA'd either, and I thought they would have had to do that before it left the docks if they'd imported it themselves?
Just makes me think maybe they got it from the UK auctions, and we all know the quality of the cars that come from there....

Yeah, saw that one, looks like a great car for someone at £4000, especially as it's in black which is my preferred colour, but Newcastle is a little bit too far!
Although, I hear Newcastle has a pretty wild nightlife........
Experience of mcminn isn't that great some of the cars they get are very good, was there at the weekend looking at the 300 bph MR2 turbo he has. He may get some nice cars but the after sales sucks.

I'm sorry to hijack the thread, but a new one didn't seem appropriate; I just wanted to apologise for not turning up last Thursday. I said I would, but on the Wednesday night before, whilst I was coming home from work on my bike, a truck decided to turn left from lane two without looking and thus became my new braking device.
As you can see, there wasn't much left of the bike (there are 4 cracks in the frame, 3 of which can't be seen in these pics), and I spent the next few days in hospital wingeing about the bruising (in the pics) as well as my nice new shattered right wrist, which was plated on Tuesday (I'll post the x-ray if I can get a copy).
All in all a bit shit really, but a fair excuse for not turning up I think? :p
Are there any London meets, say around February time?....
jeeze dude... glad your alright... lot of accidents happening these days..
now that's what I call an excuse...
Oh god. From the state of the bike you were lucky to get away with just bruising. :help:
I take it the other driver admitted liability? I hope it all gets sorted out with the insurance company sooner rather than later. Not what you need so close to xmas
No worries mate, we will have another meet shortly
Cheers guy's;
From the state of the bike you were lucky to get away with just bruising
You mean apart from the shattered right wrist...
The other guy has admitted liability, but the police also blame him 100% so I'm hoping to get the bike replaced, as well as having a few quid to treat my supe out of this..
The cast comes off in two weeks so that the consultant can x-ray the wrist and check that the op went well, and that the plate is where it should be. As I say, if I can, I'll try to get a copy of it and post it; it should make for a cool pic!

Mate not good. At least he's admitted it. I wrote my bike off a few years back and it took over a year to see any sort of payment for damage to the bike or myself. Don't forget when you go back for the medical examination for the solicisters that you don't think you'll ever get on bike ever agaain and that you're scared phsycially and mentally. Play on everything
Thanks for the advice; a mate of mine had a really bad smash 3 years ago and he's still battling with the insurance companies, even though the police prosecuted the other guy for dangerous driving! Needless to say I'm not holding out much hope of a quick turn-around.
