De-catting

Just had my MOT so now it's time for de-cat mod! What sort of difference have people who have had it done noticed? Is it worth the money? Any increase in noise (usually is from what i've heard!)

Any info would be greatly appreciated, I'm planning on asking Chris (aka Colin/Coleen) Wilson for the deed, I believe he quoted me £300.

If you do the full decat it will be loud, louder than a TT car.

Not so bad if you have an exhaust that you can fit a baffle in the end if you want it quieter.

Im thinking about de-cat'in after my mot, can someone just run through a few things with me as iv never done this mod before. Will it fail an mot? and how hard is this mod to do? i take it u have to do this mod every year for the mot? anyone regret doing this mod? what reason? cheers! :D

When mine was a TT it passed an MOT with the decat, only just mind. He had to try it three times and warm it up but it still went through. Thats no guarantee that yours will though.

The boost will go up considerably giving you more power, the turbo's will spool up much quicker . It will feel much more responsive!

Most cars will fail the MOT without the catalysts but there are exceptions.

Generally you need to fit just the one catalyst to get it to pass the MOT, the second one is a liitle easier to fit than the first.

It will be noiser , better to have an exhaust where you can fit a baffle if you like to make it a little quieter.

It's nice to have the increased performance but you soon get used to it!
