View Full Version : Blanking out the Double DIN hole
Hey All,
Just wondering what would be the best way to blank out the double din hole and make it look clean as if it was supposed to be like it.
I have no stereo in my sup and would like to put some gauges and switches there at a later date, looking for an oem type finish though.
:innocent: can`t hear it anyway

I already have the single din pocket but never fitted it as I really just want to blank the whole double din, how would i make and finish an item like that?

Best bet, some MDF, filler and paint..!! Means you would have to have a full dash respray..!! Can do this yourself if you are confident enough, or I know a good place, that has done a few Supra dashes, mine has had a single din panel done in the same way and full respray. Steve (Mr Angry) also has a nice new silver dash done by the same place..!!

Well the company is me..!! lol have started doing little jobs for people, mainly on Supras. Footwell neons, dash resprays, ICE installs etc.. Attached is a few pics of Mr Angrys dash which I have just done for him. If you are intrested it takes around 3 days to complete, but filling the double din may take longer, but im sure som 52mm holes could be sorted out to. PM me if you are interested and for prices.
Cheers
The guy who does the single din blanking plates that quite a lot of people have will also do custom parts and so could probably do you a double din sized brushed metal plate with supra logo cut out in the middle. Do a search for his details or check him on ebay.
Whats his name then?

Best stuff to fill the hole that i have used....
Get an old dvd case and cut it bigger than the hole then stick it in place, i removed the stereo to do this then just re installed it back in, easy to cut and bent and is quite strong plastic

I was thinking it would be better to mount a panel using the stereo holder so when you take the dash fascia off it leaves the panel behind.
That way if it had switches and gauges mounted on it you would not need to disconnect them. Maybe I could mount a double din sized panel onto a modified single din pocket.

i used thick card from work inserted from the back with a tight fit, you can paint it or get it made out of alloy.if you using for not so seen gauges you can angle them towards driver.

Did the UK spec come with double din stereo? If not then you could replace that dash panel with the UK one and use the single din hole for your little shelf type thing.
