Well I think everyone that joined our convoy to Santa Pod this morning will agree that the day started rather eventfully!!!!!

I fortunatly wasn't around to see what actually happen but I did get to see the end result of some rather adventurus driving performed by a Mondeo driver!!

As for the show its self, well I personally enjoyed it and it was nice to put some names to faces so soon after joining the forum. Hope Ray had a good last run, this time with NOS that worked.

Come on tell us what happened!

I will leave that part of the story for people that were 'close by' when it happened!! I was at the front of the convoy and we realised that we had lost around 5 - 6 cars somewhere so those of us that were still together turned round and drove back.

We finally found the rest of the convoy parked at the side of the road about 3 miles further back, all people and cars were fine in the convoy. They had just gained a Mondeo somehow!!!

If you have to know . . . . saw it all in my rear view mirror!! As we were in convoy a black car (no details!) began to overtake - half way past it seemed to become apparent that he wasn't getting past and coming towards him was a Mondeo. With virtually 3 cars abreast the Mondeo was half on road, half on grass. Must have braked because he fishtailed towards the centre of the road then it flipped back and flung him off the road. Thats when we disappeared over a crest and I missed the rest. We did all stop and turn around though and helped to remove the car from a small patch of woodland!!

Fantastic day though - great to meet a load of you finally and really can't wait for the next one. My lad and his mate had a great time too. Have a few pics to post up and as soon as I've recovered from the drive back I'll put them up.

Great day!!

was a great day and convoy.
Nice to meet even more members and enjoy some great cars.
Thought the drift action was very impresive.

As for the Russian Mondeo who i believe was knocked unconscious, maybe he could consider paying insurance/road tax.

Didn't see anything myself but retured to the aftermath.
All part of joys and entertainment of the MKIV.NET convoy.
 :read:

Hopefully someone got a pic of us all "rocking and bouncing" it out of the tree. Recon you right Edd looking at the damage if it had been my car i'd of gone tits up. But he didn't even want any of the emergancy services. Strange... perhaps he was an illegal ??

Something was definitely dodgy about him - I'd have wanted blood - perhaps no licence, no tax, no insurance, no visa!!

I can't get over how little thought anyone is giving this.

Someone from this forum (I don't know who) run another car off the road by doing a dodgy overtaking manouver during one of the convoys. Luckily no-one was seriously hurt but the Mondeo (from what I've heard) was very badly damaged. Now, it seems that the owner may have had something to hide and therefore didn't wish to call authorities but this does not make it any less serious.

I believe the driver of the Supra did get back into the line of traffic however the driver of the Mondeo over reacted once the Supra had completed his overtake and lost it whilst half on the grass verge.
The Supra may have contibuted to his accident but there would not have been a collision if he had continued at the legal speed limit. As far as a I am led to believe

Saw the CRD Supra get 9.8x I think but Dee blew his turbo after the finishing line :(

Did anyone see the mini on the strip? I think it had a Turbo engine in the boot. It started Wheelie'ing on the strip!!!

First time I saw a jet car on the strip, that was bloody amazing (quarter mile in 5.something!

Loadsa cars blew their engines!

I think the Norris Evo won the event?

John_M,
From what I've heard the Mondeo over reacted.

After we pushed the car back onto the road he was gone in a second.
Without looking over the car and checking the brakes etc.
Infact, he didn't even open the bonnet. Very odd.

Didn't seem the action of a innocent party to me.

I was about half a mile behind the copnvoy and saw the whole accident and was the first on the scene of the accident.

The black car overtook on the corner and had just about squeezed back on to the right side of the road when the mondeo driver panicked and swerved viciously on to the kerb and then just spun out just missing the 200 sx,
He came flying down the road and went up the grass verge and got wedged on a tree and rocks.
I stopped a few metres away from the guy and went over to assist.
I opened his door and he was out cold lying their without his seatbelt on !!
I shouted to one of the guys to phone an ambulanbce, he then came to and shouted quite nervously "no ambulance"
I then said we should get the police to bring a truck to remove you from the verge. again he replied "no police" Then the rest of the convoy returned to us and i got covered in pricks trying to jump on the prickly tree that he was wedged on :read: and we removed him from the verge he drove off to a layby.
Not much else could be done, he didn't want the police he didn't want an ambulance something was a little off about the guy.

He loved it - said it was the best day of his life! Considering I was going to keep the car stock I came away with along list of wants! Bugger! When the car's in Lincoln, it looks great - everybody looks. When it was parked next to everybody's yesterday, it looked remarkably ordinary!!! So, Racing Harts (19") on the list - 30-35mm drop . . . . and on we go! Next year it will look something like!

The weather was great - but the RWYB organisation was very poor!

I joined the queue to sign on for the RWYB at around 8.30am with about 40-50 people in front of me, got signed on around 9.00am and got the car into the staging lanes around 9.30. The track was damp from overnight rain so the track had to be dried and prepped so it was not open until 10.30am - an hour late. I got my first run at around 11.00. I got a poor launch and has serious wheel spin at around half track (where the traction compound ran out!) and only ran 13.510 secs @ 112.76. By this time the queue for the RWYB was back past the finish ie over 1/4 mile long! It was 12.30 pm before I got my next run. I got a better launch (0-60ft in 2.083 secs) and ran 12.554 secs @ 115.91 mph. I join the queue again but did not get my last run until 2.40pm due to the lunch break and an oil down. On this run I got and excellent launch (0-60ft in 2.0002 secs) but screwed up the 1-2 gear change and ran 12.961 secs @ 113.94mph. I finally got the car parked up by around 3.00pm - so I spent most of the day in the car and did not see much of the racing!

In the Pro Shootout Dee Ireland in the CRD Supra ran an awesome 9.867 secs @ 144.17 mph but damaged the gear box in the process and could not run in eliminations.

Mark Biggers won the Toyota/Lexus RWYB class in his Supra with 11.555 secs @ 127.44 mph.

Most of the other Supra's were running in the 13's - traction was problem all day but I did see one other Supra (black) run a 12.9.

Overall I was pleased with my best run and I also met a number of guys from the club - so not a bad day.

Simon
