Erm....

Dexron is a standard, not a type....

Okay, here is the experienced answer... Don't TOUCH dexron III, it screws up the box... same story with the TT autobox...

Dexron II is 'okay' for the box, but it does make it change sloppy and all sorts of things....

I had put D2 in my box when I did a flush and I was really not happy with it... I went out and got Type-IV stuff from Lexus Reading, flushed my system as well as I could, and put it in... Much snappier much healthier....

Go with Type-IV, 5l's is about £25, and you can't go wrong, it is was toyota recommend and it is with very good reason...

I believe this to be fine......the high anti-shear properties are sufficient for the box!!

just out of interest how many boxes have you destroyed or have seen destroyed using this fluid??

I'll admit to not ACTUALLY destroying the box, however it blow a seal which I had to get replaced..this could be attributed to age on the box admittedly...

There was an article a while back regarding something along the lines that the balls and valves go brittle when dexron III is used...

I'm busy looking to see if I can find it...

However, the point I was trying to make is that, nobody has caused any damage using the toyota type-iv stuff...

I will back out from my statement if I'm shown otherwise

I was'nt contradicting your veiws just interested thats all, this is my second supra now and I have always used the type III stuff, and touch wood I have never had any problems with either box's......I have heard about the seals going but this could be down to a number of factors not just the oils used!!

I know the type-IV stuff is fine, my point was that the Type III dextron will also be fine

I know a lot of people still use the type III stuff and never have issues, I would be very interseted to see an article from a reliable source outlining the major differences between the two though dont you think :)

Nah dude, I know you weren't having a go...

I'm trying to check it out... I remember reading an article about it AGES ago (and my memory is shot *grin*).... there was something to do with the balls expanding on the box or something of that like...

My mission for the day is to find it *grin*
