View Full Version : Hks Coilovers
BOUNCE PROBLEM.!! As far as i am aware my TT has HKS HYPERMAX coilovers fitted, the fronts do not seam to have any adjustment in the rebound or stiffness that i can see? and the rears have 5 settings with a scew adjustment on top of the strut, my problem is that with the coilovers set at 1 {I THINK THIS IS THE SOFTTEST SETTING}they seam very hard on the rear and i am getting bounce even on smooth roads which makes getting the power down interesting to say the least!! does any one no a way to overcome this prob with out having to shell out lots of cash. can the struts be striped to find the spring rate or to cahange the damping rate? any help much wanted

Get them tested out on a shock dyno, there's every chance they are buggered. I had 2 brand new sets of Skyline ones fail (burst) within 10 minutes of a GENTLE work out on the dyno. Both sets showed WILDLY different damping characteristics, side to side, when set to the exact same settings. Not a fan of the things (if you hadn't guessed... :))
hi many thanks for your reply, have you any idea where i can find someone with the equipment to test them in DEVON?

No idea about Devon. I can get them tested if you like. 30 quid per shock.

However, if they are knackered consider them scrap, you would have to send them to Japan for rebuilding, and even then they probably won't have the bits, HKS have changed suppliers several times. I'd say bin them and buy European stuff.

I have HKS hypermax, and what you describe sounds nothing like them at all. perhaps a different product?

I was thinking the same thing.
Sly I think you need to establish if the are HKS Hypermax coilovers first, can you post some pics of them without the wheel on and of the top mounts.

hypermax2 have 30 point top adjustable. Purple top mounts.
Well I have never heard of them bursting open but leaking HKS coilovers is common ;) why I took the zeal/endless route and they are sweet.
cheers
