better times with Traction Control on?

Can anyone explain this?

While datalogging back to back runs with my accelerometer, the runs with TC 'on' are consistently better than those with it 'off'

Ambient temps are not low, road is dry, tyres are good, why on earth would TC make any difference at speeds over 60mph?

If anything, with TC 'off' the flap should operate a bit less and the ignition retard during gear changes should be less obtrusive.

I'm not talking standing-start times here, more like in-gear acceleration.

I don't understand why this could be happening...
