Seem to be hitting Fuel Cut at lower that expected rates of boost i.e. 90 leptons - hit throttle and 5 secs later'bang' off goes the FCD

SBC shows boost at 1.09 only

Could anyone tell me at what levels they have their HKS set - as obviously do not want to run lean - but also would like this FC to stop

PS have not got S-AFC fitted yet - is this the real requirement under these circs?

Cheers

I just adjusted mine until there was no cut!!

Unfortunately I can't make more than 1bar boost ATM, so was unable to see what the fueling was like above this level on the dyno day .
Be careful .... the HKS FCD scales the signal and can cause a lean running motor
There was a post by Ash , many moons ago where he measured the A/R on justins car with an HKS FCD fitted ... the results weren't good.
General consensus round here is to fit Pete Betts VFCC as it clamps the signal.... its still a bit like russian roulette until you get the fueling checked. Most cars are fine , some blow up....

bin it and buy one of the TRL performance or GReddy units.

There is an article on www.mkiv.com in the tech articles section about the HKS FCD

edited to add pete's company name

Paul, have you read the other posts on AFC's, as I understand it the AFC will only up the fueling at the lower end of the RPM range. The main reason I wanted this was to try and raise the fueling at the higher end of the RPM range due to mine being decatted. But have read that the AFC will not be able to up the fueling with the standard size injectors, if I have misunderstood this, anyone feel free to make me look a tit....:p

Its true you can't add any more fuel with the AFC at higher revs and beyond boost cut.
I'm fitting the 550 injectors to provide more fuel at the top end and using the AFC to trim the fuelling at lower revs.
Its a bit cludgy. but heyho........

Do you have a VVTi Supra? If so then this may have caused Justin a problem in the past.

I recently went to Leon's (JPS Motorsport) and fitted a VFCC to a VVTi Supra and got it to work. I sent the installation details to Justin.

If it's a normal Supra then there is no reason whatsoever that the VFCC wouldn't have worked if wired as per the web page details.

Pete

I believe that was Justin's EVO 5 that had the problem with the HKS FCD. That model of car was not on the application list for that product.

It was my VVTI Justin was trying to fit an FCD to. TRL FCD works a treat after Petes trip to Leon's and new doco was issued.

Hi Pete

Justin fitted mine on - all Ok - Std Twin Turbo

But I'm getting Fuel Cut at higher speeds when I put the foot to floor and try to get kick-down

Now I may need to adjust the HKS FCD from 'normal' mode - but to be honest - wanted one of yours in the first place - and in line with recommendations from most quarters

Justin (good chap that he is) will be replacing the HKS with yours Pete - FOC (so please send him one for me - cheers)

Also - I dont think I should be getting Fuel cut at only 1.08 bar!

The set-up needs to be checked - recommendations to 'how and where and by whom' all gratefully received

i.e. does it have to be on rolling road for these limited mods?

Cheers

Paul
