Hi, i noticed on sat when i was driving around that my warning lights came on on the center of the dash (I had to brake very hard as a car pulled out on the motorway in front of me, muppet!!)
I've never noticed it before but decided to do another test, and slammed the breaks on whilst going down my road (About 30) and the lights came on again ?
Is this normal ? Or is it early indication of brkae failure!!
Thanks..
Craig.

Is that the engine warning light? Big exclaimation mark in middle of rev counter?

That's the daddy...
Craig.
brake fluid is low. The indicators on the side of the fluid resevoir are big fat liars, you might think its on minimum but under heavy braking it isnt, so top up the brake fluid and that should sort it.
Also means your brake pads might be getting a little low as the fluid is getting low.

Not sure but could it be engine oil being low, i had this on another car yrs ago, under heavy braking the oil warning light came on and sure enough it was a bit low.
Maybe worth checking the old dipstick.
Or im talking a load of c**p

Ok chaps...I'll give it a check... Thanks for the help....
Craig.
Craig, I know it's off topic, but are you going to run your car at the stock based turbo event in January? You should have a pretty good shot at the title! See the thread in the Gatherings section.

the lights make you panic and think the worst, its simple when you know. next time you will remember

Terry, sounds fun mate... I'll make the date clear so i can come along... I'm curious to know what bhp i'm running, just a few quick adjustments here and there before i'm absouloutly sure everything's ok.......
I'm sure there will be faster cars there though !
Craig.
As for the rest of the topic... I'll check the fluids in the morn, as i've just got in from a curry work doo, and i'm too tipsy to even think about going outside.....DOH...
It's most probably your pads. When they're worn and you brake theres extra travel(more fluid) involved and you'll get the warning light. Topping up the fluid may get rid of the light but won't add extra pad material. Check your pads.
Tsk basic stuff, we've been through this 100's of times..
Geez, Scooby.. Use the SEARCH command.
Joking matey.
Yip I had this, pads may need replacing. Next comes the nasty screech stage followed by grinding.

Doh,..... The Green pads i've got must be crap as they take ages to warm up and they don't last long at all !
As for the search command, i done a search for it but couldn't find it ! :p

Most likely brake fluid level. The fluid doesn't evaporate so check your pads. Another thing to look for to confirm this is brake warning light on rapid acceleration. The fluid will surge both ways.
