No, but I know someone that organised one for the SXOC guys at AVA in Glasgow. Think it went pretty well so wouldn't be too hard to arrange.

I got mine dyno'd at Dastek, who were pretty good.

Dastek can't do auto's, tuning zone are shit (IMO) so that leaves AVA or STAR performance.

Cheers,

Brian.

Star didn't want to know about Autos last time I was there at a RR :(

Yeah it was great fun at Crail today - I was busy drifting my m8s dark blue S14a 200SX most of the time, bloody great fun I was having :read: Got through 2x sets of rear tyres today

Dastek CAN do autos, Gerry just wont do them as they are such a pita to do..if you all do the 3rd gear lock, then i am sure Gerry will do your dynos np.

Andy
PS
And i did hear that Star are to keen on doing auto now.

Andy - tried that with Irvine's - no Joy, unless you consider 800 + bhp an accurate reading! :looney: Gerry said to me then that Soarer auto's were OK but Supra auto's couldn't be done.

So you did this to Irvine's car ....

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=540891&postcount=47

Cause the autobox in the Soarer is the same as the one in the Supra the only diff being the tailshaft section, which can be replaced.

Torque Performance in Motherwellare getting a Dyno in 3 weeks time, I fancy trying them.

Most people won't have the ability / skill / inclination to do that Andy so not really an option for an RR day unless someone wants to make a lockup box with a fields type harness to quickly switch between auto cars on the RR day.

Kenny - what kinda dyno are they getting in?

Cheers,

Bri.

Brian from what i am told its a dastek 4wd rolling road

Btw i am coming along if u do get a RR day sorted (in the skyline)

Sounds good Ross, but does that mean they will likely have issues with auto's too?

Brian

They will have the exact same problems most RR.s have with auto's.

I spoke with Paul at Dastek this morning and i have emailed him the instructions on how to do the lockup, he will have a look and see if it is possible to do some sorta plugin which could be swapped over quickly.

Gerry said to me then that Soarer autos were OK but Supra autos couldn't be done.

I was under the impression that the Supra box in manual mode would not change down from 3rd, or am I mistaken? The Soarer definitely cannot be held in 3rd, only in 2nd (PWR and 2).

Or is there another reason that autos are a problem on the rolling road?

Having the supra in the usual manual mode dont work like having a supra manual in 3rd on a dyno.

MAtt on the link, has given the instructions on how to get TRUE 3rd gear lockup.which cant be done on a Soarer, well i havent actually checked it out on my own as i'm a lazy git :), and some of the pinouts on the ecu aint the exact same as the Supra.

And Gerry DOES dyno our car, as he is the guy who maps our car, but he's a freind and he sorta started something that he really shouldnt have, and now is left with me hounding him :).

But he dynos our car in drive with o/d off and pwr on, the main problem with the auto is that he has no control over how the box changes, and cant get a torque figure outta a auto car,as it shoots all over the place on the changes.

Other place's have the same problem with autos infact there are places down south that wont touch a autobox car, as they like to trip out there dynos :), which ours did to Dasteks at 155mph.

Oh and you can hold a Soarer in 3rd,but your still having to go through the other gears to get there.

And doing the dyno in 2nd gear WILL give you a torque reading but i believe it's not the way a proper dyno should be done.

So the problem is both change-down and the torque converter slip under acceleration?

It's more expensive than a relay :), but it appears to be possible to use the "SupraStick" on the Soarer. If it does work it gives full manual shift control AND control of torque converter lock-up.

The supra box tail is not the same as the soarer box, the tail has to be changed over so you can fit the box into a Soarer.

So i dont think that's possible (well ANYTHING is possible) just would be a pita to do.

And yes the changedown is the main problem when dynoing an auto, the operator dont have control of the car the way they do when dynoing a manual, bleeding thing is all over the place :).

Thanks, I think I get it now. The mod to the Supra locks the TC so that there's no slip and prevents the box changing down, so on the rolling road it should behave like a manual.

Shame no one works at toyota cause they have a device that can be plugged intoan autobox and a passanger can use the device to run the autobox like a manual...now where could i find one of them little things :).
