OK guys, Those lovely fellows at Santa Pod are putting on a special Evening session on the Saturday 15th October. This is the weekend AFTER Japshow Final, so you can have a bit of a practise on the Sunday before and then come down for the night special for a SUpra Pod Meet.
May even let the website owners of this Table (http://www.speedtable.com/tables/club_table.php?vehicle=0) know were coming down so we can get on the board. Will add more info but i'm thinking aiming to get there between 4 and 5, but need to double check how the day runs.
So who's up for it??
I think you got your calendar entry a bit wrong James :stickpoke
Im interested in this, but its only 3 days after I get back off holiday so I wont know til then.
Also if it looks like rain on the day I wont bother.
Yep i'll probably go to this one.More likely run the car up the strip rather than at Japshow.
I'm liking this one, James. Good idea
I'll be around for this James, so count me in. :ecstatic:

Still can't add names to the calendar mate... :stickpoke ;)
So how will this play out? Just turn up according to the schedule or will we have an organised stand again? Sems like your a sucker for punishment James or you should take the first casual option..

Steve Steve Steve Steve what are you like?? Always jetting off somewhere :p
Cornelius, i guess we can get a convoy together to go up and then maybe meet at the local BP station and all go in together, thus parking up near each other. It's planned out like a normal day i guess. Anyone been to this before??

Sounds like an excellent idea - don't know how I missed it up 'til now.
As long as I can square it with the Mrs I'll be there!
Is there going to be a meet point etc for us n00bs?

We'll be there all weekend please come and say hello :)
Gaz.
So what's the game? Should we go over there lunchtime-ish or later?
Looking forward to a less hectic event. Ray promised to organise something too over the coming weeks but I'm still up for this weekend. (was going to say "stripping" but thought better of it).
What shift are you working James? Convoy up again?

Well it's open quite early to 9pm, so we could say we'll leave at 2 so we can get there around 3/3:30. Gives us 3 hours to que to sign in and an hour to que for each run :faint:
No i'm sure it'll be quiter. Shall we meet at south mimms for the southern lot again?? And Gaz have you got a stall or are you there for racing :D
Im still planning on going, as yet dont know what time, will they let people sign on later in the day (ie account for ppl going home) as in the past if they got too many people in the morning it was tough - no track time.
terribleturner
11-10-05, 18:38
Yeah, i recon they let people sign on all day like they did Sunday, and then close until enough people have done their runs. I think for insurance reasons they can only have so many people signed in at once.

South Mimms at 2pm then folks?

Regards,
Gaz.
So in summary who's planning on going?
Who wants to meet at South mimms at 2?

South Mimms for 2pm - A1(M) rather than M1 then? I'll be there. :D
Great day out folks!!! Only managed to get 2 runs in but still high on the adrenalin :D Queues were a bugger again but mostly because people kept dropping bits or crew needing a break
Defo need to organise a day up there without the crowds if the weather holds. Ray? :stickpoke:
Anyway with my stock TT I ran a 13.843 1/4 mile against the Envy-machine which ran 12.143 (you weren't trying in the slightest were you??!!) I only got to the line first because you hung around on the start line, dude  :twak: ;)
Anyway, grateful that chance let me run against that awsome machine :respekt:
Best run was 13.709 against a Civic type R which I creamed  Man, that stuff's addictive - now I know why those folk spend so much on this.
Great to see the usual suspects and meet new faces, Great convoy fun (what was that 80 leptons stuff about on the way back though, James?) Sorry I guessed you guys would hit the M25 so I left for the fun to be found at the end of the M1
Right - you have a few days off fella - let's see the vids
I'm off to enter my times into my new-fangled post-upgrade profile!!

Great fun tonight, specially pulling my personnal best of 13.09 @110.29mph
I'll try and get the video up tomorrow, Monday the latest, Will get the pictures up too tomorrow.
Cornelius are you reffering to before we joined the M1?? I thought Simon was coming along side and when i floored it and looked over it was a Mini which sort of confused me :p
Can't wait for the next one. Maybe Sabrina will be down there with some Nitrous installed on the FTO
Had a cracking day - despite the queues and despite how cold it was once it got dark.
Thanks Cornelius for the use of your lovely warm jacket.
Did anyone else find the day far more laid back than last weekend?
Congrats to everyone on their times. :respekt: Esp James for pulling a 13.09. Next time though we expect to see times in the high 12's please...........:D
Maybe Sabrina will be down there with some Nitrous installed on the FTO
I'm really very tempted by this James, and you shouldn't be encouraging me
But then again it would be most exciting.......................................
Anyways great day for sure. Nice to meet you all again

wounds like it was good with cool temps
Any piccies peeps ???
Oh B*ollox, I thought this was next week :banghead: :banghead:
Great night! first time ever on the drag strip for me, and i have a lot to learn or maybe it was just first time nerves, first run was embarrasing got no traction whatsoever and just wheelspan all the way down the track with smoke bellowing out everywhere, crazy time of 20 secs. Right so its not just a case of turn up on the strip without warming the tyres up with a burn out, waiting for the lights to change and flooring the gas pedal, its all about traction, getting some grip then go for it. second time round did exactly that, got away to a great start racing against simon in his stock supra also his first time on the strip, neck and neck then half way down simon just pulls away from me and my engine just seems to be screaming and not going any faster, its only when i cross the finishing line in 15 secs do i have time to look down and realise i was in 2nd gear and red lining over 7,000 revs all the way, doh, oh well live and learn as they say but i had a great time, with great company, James, sabrina, cornelius, simon and his son, and thanks to James for his emergency road side assistance when i lost my undertray on the motorway on the way home, thanks again every one and hope to do it again soon.
11.962 @ 114.17 mph 60 Ft 1.730 330 ft 4.964 1/8 et 7.660 1/8 mph 91.11 1000 et 9.924
(stock ... etc... )
How? How did you manage that?!

thanks to James for his emergency road side assistance
It was like looking into my own death lying on the hard shoulder of the M1 :p
When your back again Rush well go onto a "private" road and do some practise starts.
Only took a few pictures as i didn't check the settings of the camera and they were all massive files (2032x1524) :( Just waiting for Photobucket to do it's job and i'll stick them up. Video will probably be tomorrow evening.

What an awesome day :D
I can't wait to get down there again. Shame about the queueing but good company made that bearable!
I have some pictures that Matt (my son) took, not great but worth a look - I'll post them up tonight. I also have some video which I'll try and get up too.
For a first time run I managed 13.9 @ 104 - totally stock, so not great but I'm happy to get in the 13s. The poor Golf GTI in the next lane was left chewing on my tyre smoke!!!! How hard is getting a good launch!!!
Don't take any notice of RUSH talking about being stuck in 2nd - he just lost to the awesome power of my baby!!!! :P
