Removing both CATS

Hi people,
My car goes in for M.O.T. within the next month and I am planning on asking for it to be de-catted. How does it affect the performance of the T-T Supra?

Main question is : Does removing the CATS affect the engine management unit, in terms of timing etc.??

In summary I'd say.
Removing the CAT's decreases the spool up time of the turbos and hence the car feels more nimble. Also reduces the exhaust gas temperature as there is less restrictive material in the way of the exhaust gases. Both good things in my opinion.

BUT this will put your CO levels to about 0.5% but the MOT says 0.3%
You might be lucky and get away with it but with a "friendly" MOT guy you'll have no problem.

If you have problems, just pop the second CAT back on, get your MOT and then take it straight off again. Your local exhaust dealer would do this for about a tenner cash in hand.

£20 at mine but it was both cats and his first time and the manifold nuts were a bitch with cat 1 in place.

I think less then '94 don't need cats. But I suppose if C02 is high then it can still fail.

Anyone who can get to bexleyheath in Kent area that needs an MOT  then call me, my mate has a MOT testing station and he does not even test my Co2.

Just got my car decated fully today, and the difference is huge, the car is more powerful and responsive and a bit louder too!

The difference is very noticeable. I had a stretch of road where I could floor it and not get scarred. Now the spooling of the Turbos is much greater and when the second one kicks in it really accelerates now. Feels really scarry.

Just waiting for replacement back box's for a super dragger. Apparently it is even faster after this mod.
