Well, i took out the old stereo this morning and wired in the new one.

Bit confused.. Theres 2 blue cables.. Ones very thin and the others thicker than speaker cable.

The this one seems to go to ignition? and the thicker one i guessed must go to the electric arial.

So screwed it all back and turned it on... All worked exept.. the electric arial and the amp/speakers in the boot..

Then i noticed slight wisps of smoke apearing from the inside of the stereo.. :Pling: Disconnected it all and unplugged battery again..

Now just left the car as i have no idea..... So the dash is off and all unplugged, the stereo's all disconnected..... And i've left it....

Anyone know any good electricians in chelmsford area ?

dunno whats going on there, it's been a while since i changed mine.

I cut off the adapter and joined the wires together as shown in the diagram, worked fine.

BUT i think theres an adapter you can get from Halfrauds you plug into the stock one that will convert it to a normal stereo.

Yep, got the standard ISO,... Unfortunatly the stereo has only got wires coming off of it.... So had the cut the adaptor (Rather cut that than the wiring loom )

Ok, been out and checked all the wiring... All looks fine, except i had missed the power to the amp lead out and the power antenna... So now they work..

So ...

Everything works a treat....

5 mins later....

Where did that wisp of smoke come from? - $%^&*$ -the unit started to let a slight wisp of smoke out of it every now and then...

Dicsonnected it all... Thrown in bin. Got the hump..

the fuse should have popped first before you got smoke so i guessing the actual headunit itself might be faulty ?

very frustrating i know, but at least know you've got an excuse to go and buy a new flash one :eyebrows:

if you get a "normal" sized headunit you can get the space blanker from Haulfrauds and stick your electronic boost controller in there :D

Yep, i'd of thought a fuse would have blown as well... but no...

The only thing i thought it could possible be was maybe there is some flux on the board that's getting hot and starting to smoke ???? Not sure though, but the wiresare not hot and either is the stereo....

Bizzarre.... or my wiring :-) lol...

Oh well...
