Hey there

I've had a intermittent problems starting for a while now, and although I always manage to start the car in the end I would like it fixed as it's a little embarrasing sometimes!

Anyway it's a strange problem, at first I thought it was to do with the alarm but I am now convinced the alarm is fine. It very rarely happens but when it does it seems to happen quite frequently, and then it'll go for a period where it has no problems at all.

I disarm the alarm and immobilizers and try to start the car, it turns over (and it sounds like it's turning over faster than normal) but refuses to start. I find if I turn the key back to the off position and try starting again, it eventually starts, often with the help of a little throttle... once it's started it's aboslutely fine! It has happened when it's cold, but it also happens when it's warm which is puzzling.

As far as I know the battery is fine and was replaced recently, and since seems to be turning over healthily I doubt that's the problem... Any other ideas? What are the symptoms of starter motor failure?

Cheers,
Francis

Any ideas guys? Looking at past posts of starter motor failure - mine doesn't stop turning over, it'll turn over very rapidly, just won't catch...

Cheers,
Francis

have you checked your plugs and coil packs?

Fouled plugs...sticking injector...fuel pressure VSV not working well enough...could be a few things.

it wont be the starter if it turning OK- Try some injector cleaner- and new plugs. Mine use to randomly not start- but since I changed the plugs alls been well.
