Speedo error

When I checked my speedo reading against my RoadAngel (Mk 1) the speedo seems to be about 10% out. Eg. it says 55, RA says 50 and the error increases as the speed goes up... :(

I double-checked against my TomTom and that gives the same reading as the RoadAngel, so the GPS reading seems to be true.

Is it possible to adjust anything to take out the error? I'm not too bothered, as with it reading high at least I'll be more inclined to be going too slow past the cameras rather than too fast. ;)

Oh, the wheels are 17" Toyota due to upgrading to UK brakes.

Cheers for any help,

Ken

ALL road car speedos are OPTIMISTIC ! !

And the Soop is fairly bad !

Yep i reckon about 10% is right 55 = 50, 150 = 135/140, that's about right ! !

IF you've got one of the ADJUSTABLE speedo convertors then YES you can

bring the Optimism down (can't remember the limit of correction )

Different rolling diameter wheels/tyres also raise lower the Speedo (BIGGER/TALLER

profile means CLOSER to true speed) however, altering it THAT way is a bit

costly (?!) and you have to alter them a FAIR BIT to get anywhere.

[obviously you can alter SPEEDO MARKS... but again, a bit messy ??]
