I thought the 7035 was already multi-region and didn't need switching?

The 7025 is exactly the same as the 7035 - except that the 7025 is not region free - sounds like if you can't play region 2 dvds, that you have the 7025 - not the 7035...:(

7025 should play region 2 dvds (Europe, including France, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Arabia, Japan and South Africa), as the US version, the 7015 will only play the US' (and Canada's) region 1 dvds.

In theory, the 7035 should play region 3 dvds (Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Borneo and Indonesia) but word of mouth says it plays all of 'em.

AFAIK, the only multi-region dvd players are the ones by no-name manufacturers, as they don't subscribe to the code of conduct / rules that goes with using the DVD label.

Certainly a lot of the slightly older models, but I've been shopping round and all the big names now (Kenwood, JVC, Panasonic, Pioneer) seem to be encoding their players to regions. :( Bar stewards.

Could have saved a packet on my new purchase otherwise . . .

Found the manual online: http://www.kenwood-electronics.com.my/imanual/DDX7035.pdf

Doesn't mention anything about being multi-region though. Is there anything in the DVD setup screens?

:edit: Being looking about 'cos I was interested in these - can't find anything to prove that they're region free, but have found a couple of other people asking the same question!

Panasonic? Toshiba? Pah, I count them as no-name brands! :P

My bad, I was thinking more about the all-in-one screen and dvd player jobs, like the AVIC series from Pioneer (which is region specific, according to Pioneer US, the B**tards), the 70*5 series from Kenwood, and the, ummm, other ones that I can't hink of right now.

Trying to back out of it? Moi? :D

P.S. Sorry for hijacking the thread, Scooby. Had any luck yet?

No still no luck.
I have emailed lots of companys asking if it can be chipped or summit but not joy yet. I did email Kenwood but they just said to contact my local supplyer! Sextons say that all the Kenwood units are region set!
So it is not looking to good.
