Ok, i have got the inserts and am happy that i can get the front door panels off without killing them or myself. I have also got down the "quick" tweeter replacement guide which hopefully will work and wont result in a new front screen. :scare:

Planning to do this monday (Bank holiday, Woooohoooo :eyebrows: ) but i have a few questions.

Does the cable from the tweeter end up near the front speaker?

Where is the best place to put the crossover box??

What do i need to do to get at/replace the rear speakers???

As ever all comments welcome and thanks in advance.

rears a peice of cake. get a flat blade screwdriver under the front edge of the cover and pry it off. 16.5cm speakers will fit straight in, but screw-holes might be awkward. I got Focal Access 165CAs to fit, but to get my new ones to fit I ended up drilling small (3.5mm) holes and using self-tapping screws.

easiest way for the xover has got to be... splice into the right and left speaker wires behind the headunit, these would normally go direct to the front speakers in the door, well cut it and put the crossover inline there so it's inline with the door speakers, then run a new wire from the tweeter out of the crossover up to the tweeter. It's either that, or rewire it all with your own wiring etc.

think I used a large-ish flat bladed screwdriver. There is a bit of glue in there..

You've probably got them out by now?
If not, i found that it's best to remove the the plastic rear quarter panels, unbolt the speaker bracket (3 bolts). I then bashed the B@stard glued-on speakers from the back with the hammer then from the front, used the claw bit of the hammer to prise it out. Worked a treat :read:

Once my blood pressure had risen to dangerous levels i went in there with an old screwdriver and a hammer.

There was only ever going to be one winner :thanku:

I am sure at the time "lets glue the fcukers in" was a good idea!

Thanks to all those who have expressed opinions, you have been a big help :respekt:

Oh, and Mav's TOP tip of the day is dont attempt a stereo install with a hangover on a hot day

How do you get those plastic panels off? Beats the hell out of me! Spent ages stripping back other parts of the interior, getting out loads of screws, but no joy in shifting the main panel....

Is there some trick that I'm missing?

Sorry, only just seen your post and you've probably got them off by now....
Theres a screw on the door pillar side, two at the back of the panel, accessed by the boot. Once you take the speaker cover off, theres one or two screws there. Also one or two screws that sit under the seat - so you need to remove the lower part of the rear seat. I don't think you need to unbolt the rear seat back bit. The lower bit - give it a good pull and it'll come off.

Yeah, thanks - I blundered my way through. I was being lazy, hoping I wouldn't have to remove the seats. I didn't realise they were so easy to get out!
