Whitesupraboy2
people have put it in before. but if your at a tesco or sainsbury's super unleaded will be ok, as people are running their cars on this now. put £5 of unleaded in to get you to a shell garage and drive conservatively like changing gear at low revs and no gunning it . then fill it right up with optimax and you'll be fine

Whitesupraboy2
mate at the end of day if you need fuel you need fuel, just dont use full throttle and try to keep off boost.
black cat
im sure theres a hole in the tank some where. u can almost see it go down when you gun it. thank god for the 1.0 205. tt steve.
Steve W
W'S'B'2 is dead right mate.... as long as you don't FLOOR it... petrol is petrol (sort of) IF you're REALLY paranoid about it, carry a bottle of one of the BETTER (?) Octane Boosters in the car.... it's pretty much accepted that NONE of them are any where NEAR as good as they claim [ie. if the label SAYS it raises by 2 points it probably only raises by ~a fraction] but if you just put ~a gallon in as W'S'B'2 says then a bottle will have more effect (?) Besides, ANY of the Supers will do unless you're REALLY Anal about Octane (let's see if THAT starts the fanatics off ........AGAIN ) FatS. JohnA
I wouldn't mind using shite fuel for a while as long as throttle is kept below half at all times (or drive off-boost if you have a boost gauge)
nismo_lp
Its happened to me three times now exactly the same thing, once i had to top with the ulimate at 99.9p that £20 last about 45 mins! :thumbdown then twice i had to top up with normal unleaded.... didnt feel a drastic difference at all to be honest but as soon as i went past some optimax i gave it a top up to keep the octane level up, just incase! Fookin petrol though hey, what a nightmare!!! Out of interest ... what does low RON fuel do to a Jspec?
stevie_b
Out of interest ... what does low RON fuel do to a Jspec? Good question. And is low RON stuff as bad for an NA as people say it is for a TT?
penguin
well... the guy i got my tt from had it for 4 years... and he said "use the normal supermarket stuff, i've never bothered with the super unleaded junk... costs more for the same thing" ... had to admit, she did sound very rough when i got her (compared to how she sounds now)... but then again.. this car had 2 "melted" spark plugs, a drivers side leaking caliper and 2 bald rear wheels..... but a bargain is a bargain Normal unleaded, the car deffo sounds diffrent (esp the turbo's on spool)!!! Whitesupraboy2
Good question. And is low RON stuff as bad for an NA as people say it is for a TT? nope ive ran my NA on it for 2 yrs and it never misses a beat
Mike
nope ive ran my NA on it for 2 yrs and it never misses a beat Me too! I use Optimax when I can get it, but otherwise normal Unleaded doesn't make that much difference...
