DShox
Hey there, Can anyone help? - my 98 has tiptronic thumb shifters on the steering wheel. so does that mean that if I install an aftermarket momo wheel that i'll have to lose that feature. Ewen
Hi Dshox, I second the query...Im lusting after the TRD wheel, but it doesnt seem to be available for the tipt .....I love the button shifting but they is a bit small and fiddly, and Id have preferred down on one side and up on the other (not front and back)...it would be cool if a paddle-shift conversion was poss, then the whell options would be wider........ DShox
ah so you have the same probs too finding mods for the tiptronic! i dont really use the buttons much either cos im a 'point and press man'...but would like a different wheel ah well. paddle shifts are a great idea in theory but they are well difficult to get right - the words 'flappy paddle gear box' comes to mind. The Alfas' with Selespeed gear boxes and the Maseratis (early models) have been slated with their paddle shifts. I drove the Ferrari 355 and didnt like the paddle shift on that either... Ewen
paddle-shift would only be an option if it looked and felt right, and the only AM wheel I like is the TRD, which would mean dumping the tipt in the absence of aforesaid paddles....I specced the tipt from the importers deliberately coz I wanted one and Im happy with the gear shifts, and besides, the standard wheel looks like a TRD if you squint a bit...sort of talked myself out of my previous post
DShox
what year is your Sup? running bigger bhp?
Ewen
Hi DShox..March '98....no, its std except for bilsteins / wheels / wing and Megaphone cat back....Im sort of thinking its too mint / low mileage at the mo for big mods, but the more I read this site the more keen I get - Im working on the logistics / finance for a semi-hard transformation in a year or so....earlier if I can sell that bloody Seadoo

DShox
umm i'd prolly give jp motorsport or envy performance a call and get their opinion - it'll be pricey and not sure you'll like the cost - but thats what i'd try first... Ewen
thing about paddle-shifts is that they are easier to use than buttons and you only have two - right for up left for down or vice versa....as to wether they are any good or not, well you are either an auto guy or a manual one....Im a tipt guy, so all Im saying is that the tipt would be even better with a proper paddle-shift
