It's Alive !!!

Just got my new engine started! I'm so chuffed.

It's the engine from Rob Oldham's VVTi Tiptronic that he rolled a year ago but it started first time once I'd sorted a slight problem with the fuel pump ecu connection.

It's sounds really good so far but I haven't pushed it above tickover yet. Fingers crossed the torque converter will be ok too after my little mistake the other day. :banghead:

The PAS pump is whining like, umm, the ace of spades but I've only just topped it up and there's lots of air in there - so hopefully that will be ok.

YES! She's perfect!

Blimey I'd forgotton how much grunt the VVTi engine has. :D

I took it easy for the first 10 miles or so. She was smoking a bit to start with because the exhaust was still full of engine oil from where the original engine had blown up in such spectacular fashion.

I stopped a couple of times to check gearbox and engine oil. The gearbox oil need topping up a little but I did that by the roadside and it's still fine now.

It's a nice feeling when such a big task is over and completed successfully. :D I couldn't have done it with the help of mkivsupra.net members. Thanks a lot guys

:respekt:

Out of interest .. what was the cost of the engine swap if you don't me asking ?
TBH I haven't added it up before now, let's see....

£800 - Second hand 30,000 mile VVTi engine and wiring loom from Fenland Breakers

£250 - Second hand 22,000 mile VVTi turbos from TDaxGav

£ 25 - Hire of engine hoist for the weekend

£ 40 - :ripoff: 5 litres of Toyota Type T-IV Auto trans fluid

£. 6.50 - Old fashioned 17mm ring spanner from Halfords

£ .7.50 - 5x bumper plastic grommet things from Toyota

£. 3.50 - Plasters and assorted first aid stuff.

Engine oil and coolant I already had.

===========================

Total : £1132.50

It could have been a lot worse!
