When it comes down to turbos, I don't know much about sod all. I'm busy going big single. I've got the manifold (T4 flange) and I'm now looking for the turbo. I'm preparing to be flamed here but I was gonna buy THIS (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Super-T4-Turbo-T60-1-Brand-New-Stage-V-Garrett-Wheel_W0QQitemZ7991082421QQcategoryZ33742QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) SSautochrome jobby and have it re-shelled. If it turns out to be a bad turbo then I'm not too unhappy... at least I've given the kit the chance.

I've also found THIS (http://www.turbocalculator.com/sale-garrett.php) site which looks pretty interesting. Now the problem I have is I have an autobox so spooling can be an arse. Could anyone recommend one of these turbos and compressor trim/turbine housing for fair spool but decent power? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Unless someone thinks I should go with the autochrome idea ;)

Didnt you go down this route not so long ago and binned it coz it was c*ap and got the hybrids instead? or am I thinking of a different one

Reason I binned it was advice from some people. I've read a review on this kit and they seem to love it. I just dunno what to do

Mine is a T61 T4 with .68a/r - spools by 3,200rpm in 5th.

That sounds pretty good... good price too. Have you took it on a track yet?

I've used the SSautochrome stuff, and to be honest, I've not found a problem with it at all yet...

How about this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Garrett-GT42-94mm-Turbocharger-Turbo-RX-7-Supra-V8_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQitemZ7992238049QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I'm using the T70 variant, and it does go very well to be honest...

On my VVTi, I get lag until around 2600RPM then she starts spooling up and goes like the clappers up until the redline...

Terry has mentioned in the past that it has been known to surge, but so far seems to be okay.

Shit a brick your not wrong! I just read up about it and think 900rwhp may be a little much for Gateshead Highstreet!

tdaxgav - hmmmmm did you have to change anything on yours to have it fitted? I'm thinking about buying one of these and having it re-shelled by turbotechnics.

Nope, everything bolted on easily, I did however change all the bolts for titanium with aviation grade castle nuts to prevent vibrations loosening the setup...

So far I am impressed... order a complete kit for a MK3 supra, and it was certainly complete...

intercooler, hard pipe kit, downpipe, screamer pipe, wastegate, turbo, manifold, clamps, silicon... the lot...and all for a very good price....

Only thing that worried me was this site (http://www.moreboost.org/turbo_notes.htm#T70) described the T70 as:

T70: requires a larger flow of air than the 2JZ can support to avoid surge according to calculations. In fact, this turbo is so far from being usable according to calcs that I cannot imagine anyone trying it.

Gavs isnt really a T70 TBH, it only has a 60mm inducer. The proper T70 is a horrible turbo for the MKIV.

Indeed... what Terry said *grin*... They sell it as a T70 equiv, but yeah, it is comparable to a T61 I think we agreed on...

hmmm so is this the same one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo-Kit-T70-Turbo-HKS-STYLE-WASTEGATE-BOV-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQitemZ7992349978

Bit worried about the 10 Psi TO 18 PsI wastegate

I have said it before but you really need to be very careful how you make your turbo selection and where you source it from. You can always shout me for advice.

Have you seen any problems with tdaxgav's kit? Let's face it, that's bloody cheap for the kit even if it does only last 20k miles!

Terry S
12-08-05, 11:20
no, lets see it do 20k first though. I am talking specically turbos here.

GeordieSteve
12-08-05, 11:21
Do you supply turbos alone? If so do you fancy PM'ing me a price?
