View Full Version : Autobox weirdness AGAIN..

Just need any ideas...

Driving my car back last night, the autobox seems to be hunting... it changes up into 4th, and then a few seconds later changes back down to 3rd and so forth...

The fluid levels are right...

Just wondering if anybody has any thoughts...

1. Dodgy box??
2. Wiring issues??
3. ECU just plain faulty??
4. Speed sensor??

Any ideas??

Gav, have you looked for any stored error codes?

My chief suspect would be a 42.

Ah yes, now this is where it gets interesting, I'm running OBD-II, so it is not a simple matter of just bridging the two diag units sadly...

I'm getting an OBD-II unit tonight to see if I can identify any codes.

Also a speed sensor error would thru an Engine light which I'm not getting at the moment...

I had a few occasions when mine payed up and I never saw engine light at the same time ;)

Just to clarify .....there was also many occasions when the autobox problem was accompanied with the engine check light.

Hmmm, okay, I'll shall plug in the OBD-II diag and see what pops up..
