DamanC
"Chris wilson J spec full decat" I have a pre facelift '96 J spec TT This is what is currently in place: http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/950/imgp0490size5lt.th.jpg http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/7763/imgp0491size5sj.th.jpg http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/8496/imgp0492size4pc.th.jpg the decat has a "hole for the bung" is this where the o2 sensor goes? and also its advisable to get a restrictor ring fitted too? excuse all the questions but im new
Homer
Yes it will. The o2 sensor is mounted on the manifold (before the 1st cat pipe). There is another sensor (think its the cat temp sensor) that mounts on the 2nd cat pipe. Just tape the thing out of the way as it doesn't serve any purpose once decated. BTW: That's not a Chris Wilson decat pipe for the TT. The CW pipe is 2 part and does not contain the silencer in the pic. EDIT: Just seen Leett has this for sale so I would trust what he says. Strange though as it's completely different to the pipe I got from Chris 18 months ago.

DamanC
Ok guys, cheers much appreciated Its in one part which i dont think ive seen before, should still fit ok thou? and the silencer shouldnt restrict air flow too much? a restrictor ring is also advisable? Ian C
It's not a silencer, it's a flex joint -Ian
chilli
j-spec = get a restrictor to keep boost under control! I'm de-catting my j-spec TT soon and I'll be using a restrictor for sure!

DamanC
ah bugger would i be able to get one that would fit it?
Jake
They'll all fit your car afaiaa. I meant that the size of the hole in the plate varies depending on what boost level they're intended for. (Even then it's a bit hit and miss)

DamanC
I owe you a beer if we ever meet last thing i wanted was for me to get the decat and not be able to get hold of a restrictor ring
Jake
Personally I wouldn't get a one piece decat pipe. What are you going to do when MOT time comes around? It's enough of a PITA having to fit the second cat but refitting the front cat and then taking it off again, sod that. I hate undoing those manifold nuts, they studs are always rusted to death and you've got a problem if you snap one. YMMV
