Mk4 Non-Turbo Value?

Hi,

My dad has had his Supra since April 1999 and is now considering selling it, however we really aren't sure of the true value.

The car is a 1996 Non Turbo, Auto box.

It's silver and 100% stock (apart from SVA requirement mods).

It was imported with around 21,000 km on the odometer, at which point it was converted to count miles for the SVA. It now reads 38882, meaning it's covered a mere 17,900 miles since entering the country. As 21,000 km = 13,125 miles so it's covered 31,000 miles since new.

The interior is half-leather.

The car has been serviced at Toyota main dealership (Jemca/Jem) since we've owned it, serviced annually and having 6 month oil changes.

Basically, this car is mint!

Photos are here:

The big question is, how much should we advertise it for?

Cheers

We're not in a desperate hurry for a quick sale as he still doesn't know what to replace it with yet. He tried a 350Z last week but actually preferred his Supra. He'll only consider buying Japanese or German so the choice for a sub £25k 2-3 yr old car (no ragtops) is kinda limited.

We've already got one Celica, no need for a 2nd ;)

96 reg, 31k in that condition, I'd be asking more than 5k myself.

Do not let the ebay prices influence your price, have a look through the autotrader web site for a comparison.

OK, it's not a turbo but not everyone wants a turbo and that's one immaculate car by the looks of it.

Well I have the same car (96, N/A, stock everything) and I paid 9k last December - from a dealer (so slightly inflated, but with warranty) as a category 4 import, I'm the first UK owner, and with similar mileage...

I'd be looking for more like 7.5-8 by now..?

Cool. I had been thinking £7k-£8 personally. I'd seen cars on autotrader in the past (I'd never use eBay as a price guide) but almost all have been modified.

This is a stock car, mintier than a extra fecking stong mint. As my dad walks to work it never really gets used, hence the stupidly low mileage.

In complete contrast, I've got a 1 year old Alfa GT and it's covered 16,000 miles already. That's basically as many miles as the Supra has done over the last 6 years!

I'll have a closer look at the cars on autotrader, hopefully they'll back up the £7k-£8k expectation.

Ta,

You've got me thinking now!

I think the prices do a bit of a jump for 96 models (or later ones) as this was the 'face lift' model..

Differences can be seen here !

Bits on mine that don't seem to be on pre 96 models are ABS as standard and UK spec brakes.... and I think the stock exhaust is different, but I may have made that up?

I'm sure if you have a look on Auto-trader you'll find similar prices to this - that said I have noticed in the last six months (not sure if it's a case of, you notice them when you have one?) but they do seem to be flooding the market lately... so depreciation may well have gone into free fall... though hopefully it hasn't!

But would that be higher mileage TTs at that price or low mileage minters?

More importantly, what would be a good replacement. After the 350Z disappointment we're all outta ideas.

Yeah it would be the lower end of the scale. But there is a bit of a mental barrier in that its just "for that money you could get a TT".

No harm in putting it up for 8 and seeing what happens, you may well get it. There are loads of rouh examples around and yours looks super clean :)

NSX's are all too old for that money, I know cos I looked when I was buying my GT. There's also a mental barrier in selling your 1996 car to replace it with a 1992 Honda :p

A recent Type-R would be something special though. It's more the car that I'd choose than what my dad want's though.

Nah, my mum had just driven the car to the local immigrant car-wash service :) She's the short one.

Oh, and obviously I had to move the seat forward to get in the back to take the photos :p
