Guest Daveo
While showing off like a stupid idiot doing dougnuts in a car park with an automatic supra i stopped to find i had a massive oil leak, at first i thought it was the sump but after inspection of the oil it looks like transmission oil and i found it was coming from between the back of the engine where it blots on to the gearbox Somone told me it was more than likely to be the torque converter gone!? has anyone got any ideas or shed any light on this? and more important how much do you think it's gonna cost!! thanks. paul mac
hi there Daveo, my havent we all been a friendly bunch your first post an all, first thing i'de do is check the transmission oil level, do a search on hear as its quite tricky to do on an auto, transmission fluid is red is that what colour your slick was
Guest Daveo
It was quite hard to see as it was dark when it happend and looking at it, it was very thin oil and clear, so definatly not engine oil. I checked the Transmission oil fluid level and that seemed ok, thats what made me think it was the Torque converter? I was stranded and in the end the AA came with a low loader and we managed to get it on, and was taken to the place it was brought from for repair under it's warrenty so all being well it should be fixed
Chris Wilson
Were you holding the car on the brakes and applying throttle at the same time> If so the pump front bushing has probably picked up on the torque convertor neck. New convertor and front housing, full box strip and clean out, at the very least. Preferably a new radiator, or at least have the lines and cooler pipe in the rad prodfessionally cleaned out. BIG bill! Any auto box apecialist will know what you have been up to, i wouldn't bank on a warranty claim. In fact I wouldn't even consider making one, morally speaking, or logistically for the chance of success with such a claim.
Guest Daveo
No didnt touch the brakes, just put it in gear and started doing them nothing out of the unusual then once stopped noticed the leak, it would still move under its own power at first but as more fluid came out it was harder for it to move (not that i wanted to move the bloody thing). As for the Warrenty luckerly the garrage that deals with the warrenty people will bull s*it them to save my ass and get it done!
