Dashboard lights too dim

I have a facelift supra, and one thing that has always bugged me is the dashboard lights are too dim, even when the dimmer switch is on full. Anyone agree? I have thought of either a) changing the bulbs to higher wattage or b) adding an extra one or two lights behind somewhere. Anyone done either to any effect?

I changed my backlight set up and had a mare with spot highlights. If you are going to do it, then my advice would be to change the lot and not add extra.
