Ewen
Im really interested in the recent postings ref standard air boxes vs induction kits...I went for the bling (Blitz Sonic) along with the whoosh, but Ive still got the original air-box and brand new panel filter...Im not arguing with those that say standard gives more power, but Id love to know why. Is it just a temperature issue ? Also, Ive seen Supes fitted with Blitz / HKS IKs but the owners left the top mounted (next to radiator) inlet section from the std 'box in situ...does this actually get more air to the AM filter..wont the air get in past the recessed part of the under-bonnet anyway ? Pete
If you've read many of the posts like you say then you should know the following: 1) After market filtration isn't always very good letting particles through to your engine 2) Heat soak - The air filter more easily sucks in warm air - killer during the summer. This is why many are trying to make their own 'air baths' or channel extra tubing from under the front of the car/headlight/vents to the filter location. 3) That little bit in the centre will make v.little difference to channel air through as you say.
