View Full Version : Chunk out me tyre!
Parking the car, wanting to keep it away from others.
Was going very slow as I was already in the space and just wanted to move it over a little , I didn't see the feckin kerb sticking out. :(
What does anyone think, the rubber on the sidewall is very thick at that point because of the rim protector as most of you know. The damage isn't down as far as any internal structure.

You can afford to looses 2-3 mm from the side wall depending on your kerb protectors.
Looks more like 4.5mm , don't know what to do?
It is quite a thick chunk from the most vulnerable location.
Call me a wimp, but I'd feel nervous to drive at high speeds with this.

Same here, always in the back of your mind!

Ive had a chunck like that out for a year now- No probs- But change it if you feel worried
150 odd quid though, just wished I knew for certain if it was okay or not.
Don't want to spend the money unnecessarily.
My life is more important than £150, I personally would get a new tyre.
Best case scenario: Nothing happens and your change tires when they wear out.
Worst case: You have a blowout and crash your Supe, hopefully you'll be okay but supe will be in bad shape, you insurance goes up because you have to claim and how much excess would you have to pay.
It's up to you, if you know a good genuine tyre place take it to them and ask, but I think I'd be looking to replace it if I were you.

No question, change it. It happened to me last year, similar situation.
£150 vs dead Supra, or dead driver  it's a no brainer :D
Imagine a set of scales... your life in one hand and 150 notes in the other......
You can always put the other tyre on ebay... some idiot will buy it for his escort for a tenner!
