I want to cover up/remove some water type stains on the underside of my bonnet on the heat/insulation covering.

I don't want to use anything that will stop this material from doing it's job or cause a mess (drip) onto the engine when it get's hot or even be flammable!

I just want to restore a nice matt black look.

Here is the area in question - You can see the white water marks each side of the vent:

A little hard to tell from the pic mate, but it looks very unlikely to be something that you can just touch up without making it look worse / totally different.

Is it a plastic insulation ? Or is it like a metallic type sheeting ?

If its under the bonnet i would just leave it for risk of making it worse.....nobody sees under there much anyways mate.

I cant think of anything here at the business that i could offer you to try, but have you tried just normal car polish ?
