Fire extinguisher in car

My car stank of petrol. The other day I found the source and petrol was dripping into my engine bay :scare:

Got me thinking.

Apparently there are 100,000 car fires in the UK every year. Car fires do tend to take hold quickly and can destroy it before the fire brigade get there.

Anyway, has anyone put one in? I don't mean the push button race type I just mean a normal car fire extinguisher bottle. There doesn't seem to be many places to mount it in the cabin?

Prevention is better than cure...mate, maybe you can post up what casued the leak so we can all check to make sure the same doesnt happen to us. My Cally Turbo caught fire perhaps becasue of the same thing and now im completely paranoid about it. I carry 3 fire extinguishers!!!

It was a loose fuel pipe connection on the bottom of my nitrous kits fuel solenoid.

Nothing to do with any Toyota parts so don't worry. Sorted with a spanner but could have been bad.

I have two also. In fact being the "support" car I have bloody everything in my car: tool kit (everything), water, oil, plugs, aux belt, bulbs, first aid kit, tow rope, jump leads, batter pack, tyre inflator, spare fuel, warning triangle. Think thats it :D

You sound like the 4th emergency service
