Does anyone know whether the step-by-step instructions are still available for painting the Jap lights? I remember a post some months ago that explained how long they needed in the oven and for how long - also the grit paper to use and the 'correct' colour paint to use. Does anyone still have a link to this thread as I can't seem to find it using search!

Failing that can anyone tell me the heat and duration the lights should be in the oven for the glue to soften? (I don't want to melt the damn things!)

This might help : http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/headlights/index.html

As to how long in the oven, the answer is "longer than you might think"!

I've done it twice, and I found the best way was to have the oven on a lower temp (less risk of melting) but to leave the lights in there longer.

If the black glue stuff isn't soft enough to allow the lens to come off just put it back in the oven for a while and wait.

Lastly, make triple sure that that no part of the light is touching the rear or sides of the oven walls - they get a lot hotter than the air does and they WILL melt the plastic.

Good luck!
