ADD Posted June 15, 2005 Share Posted June 15, 2005 having just got a soop i want to get the cam belt and tensioner changed as a precaution, how much should in be looking at? is there anywhere local to me that specialises in supras or imported cars? Ian W Posted June 15, 2005 Share Posted June 15, 2005 am just a new soop owner myself and apparently the engine is non-interference meaning that if the cam-belt should go.......you're engine doesn't destroy itself from the inside but will simply 'stop working'. of course if that happens it will cost less to fix but still leave you stranded wherever you are!!! Scooter Posted June 15, 2005 Share Posted June 15, 2005 well all the usual horrific consequences of a cambelt snapping in most other cars ie Valves hitting pistons and causing £'000's in repairs do not happen on 'most' Toyota engines supra included. Not saying its not wise to change if its due just that there is no need to panic whilst driving your new purchase!
