am just a new soop owner myself and apparently the engine is non-interference meaning that if the cam-belt should go.......you're engine doesn't destroy itself from the inside but will simply 'stop working'.

of course if that happens it will cost less to fix but still leave you stranded wherever you are!!! :D

well all the usual horrific consequences of a cambelt snapping in most other cars ie Valves hitting pistons and causing £'000's in repairs do not happen on 'most' Toyota engines supra included.

Not saying its not wise to change if its due just that there is no need to panic whilst driving your new purchase!

I well remember the same concern (verging on paranoia! for me) when i had my first supra.....

its paranoia with me now too, as i have always changed them on my cars as soon as i have it. it did get changed at 48k in japan and the car has now done 54k, so i think i may be worrying a little too much on this one and as its a non-interference can belt that even better :)

thank you
