 hello, my new struts were fitted saturday, and are working great , tailgate lifts smoothly on its own .
the company who ive been working with are now happy to provide new struts to members.
the price of the struts is £89.30, including vat and p+p back to you.
you will however have to take your old ones off and send them to the company as they need the ends for re fabrication , it was the easyiest way around fixing .
the company is M S engineering,
5 the graylins,
bedford,
mk 41 9bh phone 01234 772255 ask for mike
thanks peter :thanks:

Good stuff Peter,
A few members including myself would be interested in struts for the bonnet (like BMW's), do you think they may do that? They can use my car as a donor if need be to prototype, I'm down the road.

Cheers,
Ro

thanks paul , it took a lot of time to get them right , mainly because i live a long way from bedford .
but hopefully it will save members a bit of money , and they are far superior to the toyota ones

Are the struts higher pressure than the original toyota ones, or just refurbed to work properly. I suffer the 'veilside wing/tailgate landing on the back of the head' problem. Although it seems to be working fine in the hot weather at the moment.

yes i would say they are stronger than oem , you can see by the pic the struts are new its just the ends are from the old ones.pm sent .
cheers peter

I'd be interested to find out if it does cure the veilside spoiler on the head problem...will invest in a set if they do!

I've just fitted the new struts. They're really good. Definately worth the money. They seem really strong. I've never actually lifted a boot with a veilside spoiler but I'd probably say it would easily lift it!

I'd be interested in bonnet struts aswell. I have been thinking about doing this for a while, I have been thinking of using struts off a soarer, but if someone else can do this, it would save me from destroying my bonnet!!

There is nowhere I can see to fix them on to on the supra bonnet guys??

First thing I looked at when I got my soarer...

There was a guy at the Maidstone meet at the old Sextons that had bonnet struts on his MKIV, not sure what his name was though......

I think that Mig knew who he was though.

I need some for me aristo wonder if they are the same.

peter richards
24-03-06, 00:00
hi db do you think the tailgate is of similar weight , measure the struts on the aristo , make a comparison then to the supra ones .
if they are quite a bit different in length for instance then obviously theyre not going to work .
you can call and speak to mike see if he can suggest anything

the front and boot ones are apparently the same size as each other but I don't know if they are the same size as the supra ones. I've just been and measured them and they are about a foot long on each part ie fescallised portion is a foot long ish and so is the gas section. Bonnet is fairly heavy and the boot because of leverage is probably similar in weight.

I have a nice blue "stick" with tasteful black electrical tape on the end to wedge under the blind clip and lower boot. It really is mutts and may get it chromed.

or just get decent struts.

*waits for someone to quote above line and edit out the "struts " and insert "rear spoiler" * :spank:

Just put rear struts in what a differance thanks to guys at MS.Lift up 4 inches and opens the rest of the way on its own(with big spoiler),now i have to pull hard to close the boot, but my wife can use the boot now so no more bitchin or screams of pain when shopping from her:)
much stronger than i thought they would be great work, took 5 weeks from posting untill returned date, but worth the wait.
