Burn outs

always wanted to do a burn out without moving forwards - like to big boys do at drag strips.

Is it as simple as reving the nuts off your car, slip the clutch and quickly sticking your left foot on the brake peddle ?

OR

using your right foot to rev AND brake at the same time ?

OR

do they have a special switch device on the dash which applys the front brakes ?

This is not the kind of thing i can practice outside my house and i don't want to look a twat at Santa Pod so if it too difficult i'll opt for the traditional method (option 1 but without applying the brakes)

Option 2. Hold it the revs high and drop the clutch in.

i take it you shouldn't apply the brake too much just enough to stop it rolling forward, as the backs would start glowing :p

sounds tricky is it ?

best i wait for it to rain and find a big dis-used car park ;)

Buy an auto

hehe

i remember seeing an auto supra do a false start at Santa Pods as he was keeping the revs high with his foot on the brake but pushed the car (front wheels not turning i.e. locked up) over the start line before the lights went green. - i'd thought he'd started wheelspinning before the front wheels started sliding ?

have left foot braked in mine in the dry, it didnt move forward unless i wanted it to. But would do it for long as: Tyres, plus have no line lock so rear brakes etc.

so basically if you don't have "line Lock" then stick either foot on the brake pedel.

- under normal driving doesn't it feel all weird :limp: and really sensitive when you use your left foot to brake - you've all tried it once i'm sure !

easy on auto foot on front brake in 1st gear build revs tyres will start spinning

with line lock you press front brake press and hold in line lock button take foot off front brake should hold it on spot on button. when you realease button car moves forward.

i have broken beam at santapod, was giving it plenty of revs on line holding on footbrake, there was that much grip on rear drag tyres it pushed car through beam causing a false start. you would not get that on street tyres as the rear wheels will just start spinning on spot.

practice

You can apply the brakes quite hard if necessary. The brakes don't start glowing when you brake on the motorway at 90mph do they? It's fine.

Doesn't do your clutch any favours though.

how does owning a nova make you a drag racer?

This thread isnt about drag racing, its about doing a burn out such as people on drag strip, he used that to decribe what he ment!
