Alloys Advice

I'm thinking of upgrading the alloys on my J-spec (16x8 front and 16x9 rear, standard Toyota types) so here goes with a couple of daft questions:

Are Ripspeed at Halfrauds any good (I was thinking about them in terms of convenience as there is a store a few miles away from me)?

If I went for new alloys and tyres can I fit them myself just using the jack or should they be balanced professionally?

And whilst I am at it is, it usual to have 16 inch alloys on a Supra, everyone else seems to have 17 or larger

16's were the cheaper option for JDM models, the higher spec'd ones came with 17's.

If you're running with a TT I'd seriously get stock 17 or 18 inch sizes.

Do you mean can you put the tyres on the wheels yourself? Probably not unless you know how to do it, they will need sealin etc and must be balanced. A local Kwik Fit would do all this for you mate. For alloys and tyre, speak to the Traders on here e.g. Envy (01670 823333), Pro Alloys, Miami GT etc for prices, don't get them from Halfords. Don't think the halfords ones will be wide enough! Make sure you get good tyres on otherwise you'll have a higher chance of a meeting with a wall! Good luck

You can get them sent to you with tyres fitted and balanced so you just need to put them on the car.

Make sure they supply 4 hub centric rings aswell that will fit the Supra.

Go for 18" wheels, best compromise between handling and looks!

On a similar point, are Fox RS Alloys any good (aside from whether or not you like the look)? I'm looking at the RS10s.

there not wide enough mate.....you need at least 8.5 inches across the back

Halford don't do many wheel for the Supra due to the size that is needed. oh and there cheap nasty looking crap too:shrug:. You've got a proper car now not a saxo so get some proper wheels Pro alloys have been suggested there's also http://www.envyperformance.com and http://www.mvpmotorsports.com both do mail order.

stick with what you have got mate..

If you go cheap alloys you will regret it... You need good quality and good tyres.. I would either go 17 - 18 if you are looking to upgrade

The tyres I have at the moment are getting pretty ancient so I think new alloys and rubber are called for.
