mjansari
Hi, Need some advice on the removing a cat from my car. A firm in walsall has quoted £80 for a replacement with a high quality S-steel replacement. Can anyone advise on the following questions i have 1. Would my car stilll pass with a single cat? My car is a UK TT 2. Which cat is it best to remove (1st or 2nd??) 3. Any drawbacks of removing the cat? 4. What kind of power gains can i expect? Any comments would be much appreciated
Clarkey
1) It should do. Replace Decat #2 with cat #2 2) Both. 3) Higher EGTs - I think. 4) A fully decatted UK car - expect to see 0.9 to 1 bar boost. You'll need a boost controller to raise it to 1.2Bar Search for BPU.
mjansari
what about removing the 1st cat instead of the 2nd cat as the first is closer the manifold? Would this make a differerence? Whats a EGT?? 1) It should do. Replace Decat #2 with cat #2 2) Both. 3) Higher EGTs - I think. 4) A fully decatted UK car - expect to see 0.9 to 1 bar boost. terribleturner
EGT = Exhaust gas temprature. I can't remember, but one of them is more restrictive than the other. Im sure if you do a quick search something should crop up. If you really wanna unleash the power get both removed. The front one is easily put back on for the MOT.
