Brake bulb keeps going?

Carina estate, well it's Toyota at least ;)

One of the brake lights keeps blowing, the fitting looks ok and there is no water or condensation in the light unit.

What could cause it to keep going, a short on the wiring supplying ?

Funny thing is that the other side is fine, just affects the one.

The bulbs are blowing, not a dodgy connection on the holder as far as I can tell.

Can't see it being down to quality of bulbs, Halfrauds btw.

Any help appreciated cause this is getting silly and really winding me up!

take a wire from the side that don't blow and connect it to the feed that does..cutting the feed wire that does blow, not a good way but a way to say the least :thumbdown

Not so silly, I was thinking along the same lines.

I've gone and got a couple of bulbs from Toyota in case they are better quality than the Halfrauds ones and will see if these blow. If they do then it's the wiring mod :D

A mate suggested that maybe the light unit was loose and therefore more vibration to the filliment? Good idea but it's all solid and well in place.

had same probs with vehicles before, normally its due to bulb quality :rtfm:

but a bad connection will also cause the bulb to blown. due to voltage trying to pass through a bad connection will result to increase of current flow. :innocent:
