Clio gear-knob removal

My daughter has bought herself a new gear-knob for a 2004 Clio.

How does the OE one come off?

I don't want to start hacking away if there is an easy way or if it's not supposed to come off.

Any help would be appreciated :thanks:

A none Renault gear knob wouldn't necessarily fit on the same way though! :shrug:
