saw this on ebay today & also saw something very similar in Auto Trader last week

has anyone got one of these intercoolers or does anyone know why people shouldn't be buying them?

Thats a very good price but I'd question how long the fins last!! Plus it doesn't come with the pipework, replacement expansion tank, power steering relocation kit, replacemant oil cooler kit, mounting kit and all the silcon/rubber hoses and clamps that are needed (plus a few other bits I've probably missed). The pipework alone normally costs £200ish! False economy if you ask me...

Wow that is very cheap, the guy’s feedback looks good there have been no complaints about the intercoolers from the buyers. :)

His location is Hong Kong, so it's most likey made just over the border in China, THAT is why it is so cheap. They probably got a Jap branded IC and copied it. Perhaps I should look into getting stuff made here too?

I've been reading up quite a bit on intercoolers and ways to make engines run more efficiently in general.
I would say that there's a LOT involved with intercoolers. To get a efficient intercooler (ie ~>80% efficiency) there is a lot of work involved including matching the IC length's and depth's with the output of your turbo's (air flow that is).
Just looking at the picture of the internal of that IC, it looks like the fins just out slightly past the cooling tubes. This is bad. The cooling tubes should be radius'd so that air flow's down the fins without causing too much restriction.
For a good amount of info on IC's (and lot's of turbo stuff) I suggest reading Forced induction performance tuning by A. Graham Bell (ISBN 1 85960 691 1)

where did you get your piping from for this intercooler?

Well my car is back in India so i got the pipes custom made. but it's steel. In about 2 months time i m gonna try to get them replicated in aluminum.

that is a really good price, i built my own FMIC using a Pace core and that alone was nearly £300, i would'nt worry about effeciency of the core if your running a bpu supe with a knacked side mount, its got to be better

Can't find anyone who sells just the hard pipes to fit an aftermarket FMIC to stockers. If you know of any brands that do, let me know and I'll try to get price.

Best I could come up with is the HKS hardpipe kit but this is designed to be fitted to stock SMIC.

You could possibly get the pipes fabricated by one of the custom exhaust makers, could then be done in stainless, Longlife, Powerflow etc may be able to oblige.
