Question for importers.

It may be that I'm misunderstanding something but what is the year after which imported Supras cannot be registered legally in the UK?

I thought it was something like 2001. If so, what would be done with a Supra made in a later year (registering it etc)?

I hope this makes sense to someone.

I'm not an importer but as I understand it : You can't register later model (Facelift/VVTi) Supras at the moment because the necessary model report does not exist. Therefore 97/98 and onwards Supras can't be imported and registered. This model report business is a new requirement in the last year or so, before then you could import/register any Supra you liked.

What reg is the car? Autotrader sometimes list cars with the the import date shown as the manufactered date. It's a problem with the DVLA database, or rather that it's not checking for the "Was previously registered abroad" field.

It doesn't mean the car is dodgy though, just that it's not a 2001 made car, 2001 is the date it was first registered in the UK.
