Rear light clear lense - on any other cars/trucks?

I know somebody somewhere's probably checked this out, but...

For the clear light mod, are there any other cars that use the same lenses?

You'd think there might be another Toyota car/truck or something.

I suppose the easiest thing would be to check the part number (if there is one for the lense!) Has anyone done this?

BTW - I'm after a couple for the mod. I don't want the LEDs etc so haven't contacted Ray yet, but sure I will at some point! :)

I think Ray was looking into this not sure if he came up with anything. I checked with Toyota here to see if the lenses were available separately but no luck.

Well Ray - Any luck? :)

I thought these big car manufacturers went for the value engineering and stuff, so thought it would be something they'd do to save money.

There might even be similar ones on other manufacturers cars, as I know certain car manufacturers swap parts between themselves etc

It seems too good to be true though, I'm sure someone will come on and ruin my dreams in a minute :)

When I was on my way back from Portsmouth yesterday & sitting in traffic, I saw...

Mazda 323f (these looked a good size)

Ford Puma (like Leet said - too small)

Renault Clio 02

Honda Accord 04 (maybe too small)

Toyota Celica 05 (think they stick out, rather than just a lense)

It's raining at the moment, but if it's nice tomorrow or Monday, I might pop down the scrapyard with a ruler and see if there are any of these or others.

I suppose they'll need the etched lines crossing down them like the existing ones, so it might prove difficult, but worth a try I guess!

Also, I've seen a lot of BMWs with front lights that could have caps that might be similar. Still seems a long shot though :(

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper in the long run to get some clear lens made up by a plastic moulding firm? You could use any colour original lenses to make the moulds. There's only two sizes of lens and once the moulds are made producing lenses would be pennies.

You're talking £10K+ for a set of tools for injection moulding.

CLEAR CORNERS advertises rears with clear lenses for the Supra.

That seems a good site, might be worth e-mailing them to see if they sell the lenses seperately. I doubt it though, as I'm sure they'll make more money doing the whole conversion themselves.

I don't think Jake meant buying the tools, just finding a company whole could 're-create' them! I suppose there'll be copyright issues? Might be worth checking out

That's what I meant, £10K+ to 're-create' new tooling.
