I picked up the supra today.

Now the BMW has gone, you can now speak to me :p

Nick and I have been waiting 6 months to achieve this sale, regretably some engine difficulties have set us back in both time and money. :tumble:

Champions of the day (or the 6 months) are therefore listed as follows:

Nick - for his patience and extra funding. :woot:

Dude - for his mechanical skills and advice.

Terry - for his advice and historical data. :respekt:

Migster - His advice, wit, car components and social updates. ;)

Matt - for his electical assistance.

And, of course, all who have aided me on this forum.

:thanks:

Now the rest of you are probably thinking, whats the big issue ?

So you had some mechanical work done and it was delayed.

True enough.

But the above people went out of their way to reduce costs, fix bugs, advise and educated me through the process. Without them the matter would have been very costly.

I consider you all friends (and Im not drinking so please accept the sincerity :) )

It is a measure of my conviction in the trust I have for VortexPower (and co), that I paid for a car 6 months ago, never test drove it and when I picked it up tonight was under no illusion of the quality of work done on the engine and that I would have no issues on the way home.

So - now the car.

Having had one trip in it, I won't be able to comment in detail.

I have the following words to describe her:

-Accurate

-Sensitive

-Powerful

-Demanding ( oh yes, you have to work, its not a limo !)

-Loud (well of course compared to a BMW lol)

There are still many things to do, mostly cosmetic.

I was reassured with the firmness of the ride, the noise, the smelly air-con, the rattles (although suspiciously few) and sensitive throttle - all things that Whitelightning had when I still had her a year ago. I had missed the atmosphere of the cockpit, the harshness of the clutch and the ever alertness one needs to ensure nothing takes you by surprise.

She bit.

I reigned.

She behaved.

I am under no illusion that it will be many months before Irecovered my supra driving skills after the lazy ease (and somewhat dampened experience) of the BMW. (which btw are very good cars - so there !)

And as I sat there, settled at cruising speed 2 hours into my journey, I smiled.

I remembered the smile.

You have probably all had the smile I am talking about.

The one that is on the inside aswell as the outside.

The one that says "good job".

The one that only surgeory can remove.

I am at peace at last.

I look forward to seeing you all at the future events

(Some archive piccies are attached, its dark so no snaps tonight.)

Dont forget dude we need to get some decent oil in it before you lay down a rubber road straight to freedom !!!!!

Dude

Yep - I will ring you - should be the next 2 weeks ideally.

At the moment she is just parked outside in the sun and looks every part a supercar.

I will be able to have a good look over her in the daylight and see what else we want to do for her.

The modding never rests :)

I also have some jobs for Matt (the Electrical Magician) AND I owe Migster a very long overdue beer and chat so a weekend visit will be in order :p
