Removed the bonnet sound deadning today, I did this to help air flow around the engine it helps alot, I did it on my old 306 GTI6 as well and it make a big difference in temps. However the biggest gain is noise!! Wow you can REALLY hear the turbos now it sounds like a jet and the bov is as loud as fook! the moral of this story? If you want to aid air flow around the engine for the summer and want loud turbos and tishhh`s remove the sound deadning!! :thanku:

Yeah the bonnets are plastic! that why they are so light, tap it etc you`ll see! To remove, first remove the piece of rubber along the front then undo all the clips by popping them off with a screw driver to remove the Sound deadning, I chose to replace the rubber strip on the front I think it stops the bonnet rattling. :) Enjoy the noise!

You know the soundproofing is also a fire-blanket as well ?

That's true, a respected ex-member assisted in the design of the plastic clips, which release the liner at a certain temperature.

No, really.

Just removed mine tonight and gone out for a quick spin. Must say the BOV is a lot louder now :) Being a bit heavy handed i managed to destroy all the fixings for the front rubber thingy - how important is it??does it stop water getting sprayed into the bay??
